help an idiot with flash

i have to use flash for an assignment. basically, I am using flash cs3 but with actionscript 2

ok, all I want to be able to do it move an object from one specific place to another.



i want to move the item (curtain) that is selected, to the left to reveal the movie screen. im going to do the same for the right half of the curtain.

i know it's something to do with tweening or something, but i can't figure it out

I haven't flash'd in a while... and never was really any good, but can't you create a frame at like 15 or so, move the object to where you want it in frame 15 or whatever, and then create a motion tween between the two frames?

i just found out how to do that. however, it doesn't move smoothly, it quickly jumps to to the last frame and then back to it's starting position.

i hate computers.

I'm guessing on that you have to use keyframes more often, and are there any "smoothness" options like Easy in / Easy out / Easy Ease?

Step 6
Click on the Timeline any place between Frame 1 and Frame 10. Then right click and choose Create Motion Tween.

Step 7
Choose Control > Test Movie from the top menu to test your Flash movie.

Two things you might want to Google up on: "motion blur" and "tween easing". Both of those should hopefully give you an effect closer to what you want.

Is what you're trying to make move a symbol? It has to be a symbol in order for the motion tween to work correctly.

Also motion blur and other affects will only work if the object in question is a movie clip

Press f8 (convert to symbol) and then choose movie clip

I wonder why you need to use flash for an assignment. My first guess is that it's a part of your education. Then I wonder why you are asking help for such basic animation.

If the subject is truly about learning Flash and Action script, then I suggest you actually learn how to use it, rather than finishing the assignment by randomly putting some effects together and trying to pass with as little effort as possible.
I take it you go to school to be educated.

One of my friends in college is taking a bullshit web class (Multimedia Design) where they have to learn a little bit about a bunch of programs- Dreamweaver, Flash, etc etc and how to build a website.

There's honestly some classes in college where you just aren't going to use the material down the road, so it's not too big of a deal to master a program you know you aren't going to use in life.
