Shreveport is located at the nexus of the Red River and the Texas Trail, meaning it was hot as long as everyone stuck to riverboats and covered wagons for transportation. I appreciate the pleasure of playing faro and smoking a cigar on a riverboat next to a guy named "Pappy" as much as the next man, but both modes of transportation left Shreveport bereft and stuck in the far northwest corner of Louisiana -- a region officially ranked 45th in the bestseller Places You Really Totally Shouldn't See Before You Die (No, Like Seriously Dude. FOR REAL).

lol, some of the things mentioned in that article are pretty.. absurd, it sounds to me like the guy has some sort of anti-shreveport bias, maybe we did something to him, it sounds like he's just grasping at stuff, I mean he has an entire 3 paragraphs where he mentions unpredictable weather then goes to mention TWO games, one played seven years ago where there was SNOW OMG (Stompa actually attended this game and took his shirt off in attempt to grab some seconds of fame but failed miserably) Oh also it wasnt even CLOSE to the:
snowstorm in 2000 had announcers guessing blindly about down-and-distance.
        he describes there
and then mentions one played TWENTY FOUR years ago..

This year's weather has been cold and rainy thus far, not the sunny bowl vacation most would assume as the ideal exhibition game location. (The Weather Channel forecast: partly cloudy, 41 degrees at kickoff, 37 degrees by the end.)
OH GOD NO PARTLY CLOUDY, which is exactly what it was

now dont get me wrong, im not here to stand on my soap box and preach about how amazing this city is, it is pretty crappy. There really isn't much site seeing, and there isnt really anything at all for youths to do past 10 pm or so. Not much to do before 10 pm either unless you have $$. Also i dont fully understand his whole "watching dead cows float by" thing. I honestly could sit here for another hour or so picking that article apart but it's 2:15am and I had to work for 8 hours tonight sore as bullfuck from playing football for 3.5 hours the day before in a mudpit.
EDIT: This guy picked it apart for me.

It is sometimes cold and occasionally it rains in Shreveport. That's called "winter". It's normal. It happens every year. When it stops happening then we'll talk.

The sponsors. You are right. The bowl sponsors have been a strange assortment. But your obnoxious attack reeks of the ignorant sentiment of a self-absorbed arm chair quarterback who has never actually made an effort to raise money for a charitable or civic organization. It ain't easy to find a million dollars for a mid-level bowl. And for the record, PetroSun approached the Independence Bowl as a potential sponsor, not the other way around. They must be stupid.

Last night I saw The Great Debaters. It was a good film. It will probably win a few Oscars. It was filmed in Shreveport. They make a dozen or more major films in Shreveport every year, plus a few television features and series. There are several movie projects already scheduled in Shreveport for the first quarter of 2008. The combined budgets exceed $150,000,000. I guess there a lot of stupid people in Hollywood too.

The casinos are nice. But the city was there for 150 years before the casinos got there. Some would say that the oil and gas industry in the United States was born, or at least was raised, in Shreveport. Elvis Presley played to his first national audience in Shreveport. So did a lot of folks who currently reside in the Country Music Hall of Fame. They must have been stupid too.
All that being said too bad for this guy the game was actually pretty good.

also most indy bowl games are great. and the snow bowl in 2000 was an awesome game to watch shirtless or otherwise.
