  • New Season of Lost **Spoilers**

If you haven't downloaded this, just avoid this thread because I don't want to spoil it for you.

I was slightly thrown off at the idea that they actually got off the island, which we found out from last season. I was a skeptic, I thought Lost finally over reached in their story telling. My lack of faith comes from shows like Prison Break that have a great season or two then just suck at following through with a good story. One of my main concerns with Lost was how could they tell a story about a group of people lost on an island without a fucking island? They pulled it off and with a new style I might add, instead of flash-back's we've got flash-forwards! They're telling the important story of the people on the island and doing flash-forwards to when they eventually get off the island. I never thought they'd adopt this way of telling the story beyond an episode they did several season's ago. At the end of the show I didn't have that big heroin addicted expression of 'oh my god what's going to happen, I need more!' But I'm more or less hopeful. I think they'll slowly build up the suspense. They passed my first test by not fucking up the show, now all they need to do is keep making good episodes and work on the suspense and we'll be a-okay.

If you watched it on ABC and actually went through with the "find the numbers in the Vantage Point trailer" bullcrap online at abc.com/find815 or something, i did it for a few minutes, and it actually gives you some interesting NEW information about the "rescue mission" there's more info i could have gathered but there's just so much BULLSHIT they make you go through and the shit doesnt load half the time, so i just closed it.

Short points of what I got out of it ...

      - the "Oceanic 6". I'm going to take that as only 6 people made it back ...
      - And when Hurley told Jack he really thought it was a mistake going with Locke ... I wonder how the final days on the island will unfold. Lives will be lost, my friends.
      - Charlie comes back to Hurley, but Hurley is nutso, so who knows at this point. Maybe it's the Island calling Hurley back.
      - And speaking of that, a common thread is "We have to go back." Jack said it, Hurley said it. Perhaps the Island really is calling them back ...
      - Now going back to the S3 Finale, the coffin. John Locke? But, looking at it, I don't think Locke will make it back off the island. He'd rather die than leave the island. So who could it of been?
      - Jacob and his fireproof shack is still standing. All the whispers coming from his house. And, was it just me, or did I see Christian Shepherd sitting in a chair in there?

Was a good opener. It was cool to finally see Jack and Locke part ways and lead separate camps. The flashforward was really interesting and opened up a few more questions (WTF happens to the people that go with Locke?). I also wonder what it is that eventually makes Jack as desperate to return to the island as Hurley was in this episode. Maybe he's paid a visit from ye dead English rocker too.

Hope the action picks up a little bit next week.

The one episode in the second season, when Hurley was in the mental Institution. Did anyone notice back then that Libby was in the same mental Institution with Hurley when they showed the nurse handing out meds?

            The episode was called: DAVE

            First aired: 4/5/2006
Libby lends a helping hand to Hurley to support him when he begins to think the island is having a strange effect on him. Hurley begins to see Dave (guest-star Evan Handler) on the island, who was his friend in the mental institution Hurley was in.

Yes, also died on the island. I know Damon said that we would be getting into that, so I guess this is the setup, now let's see how the pins knock down.

Yeah I remember that episode with Libby.

I picked up the "Oceanic 6" thing too. I wonder why only 6 make it back. Also, what did Jack mean about making sure Hurley didnt "tell them." ? I wonder what he wasnt supposed to say...

Do you guys think they end up going back to the island?

Yeah I noticed, also I think it was mentioned in the little "catchup" episode they aired before the season premier.

And Mirrorr I personally think they'll go back, because there is so much show left that I dont see how it could drag on without them going back. Unless they spend SEASONS explaining all the answers to all our questions like:
                  What's the deal with Walt?
What happened to all the kidnapped survivors?
                  What's with the 4-toed statue?
                  What's with Libby?
And what's the deal with the numbers?
                  and a lot freakin more.

the "48" biggest questions of Lost at this point in time.

                    48. Will the WGA strike permanently disrupt the original plan to end the series with three seasons of 16 episodes apiece?

                    39. Who are the people on the rescue ship?

                    38. If Penny Widmore didn't send the ship, then where is her rescue crew?

                    37. Can Juliet really be trusted?

                    36. How did the Black Rock get on the island?

                    34. Will we learn more about Libby's connection to Hurley?

                    33. Are Nikki and Paulo gone for good?

                    32. What did Jack mean in the flash-forward when he made a reference to his supposedly dead father being upstairs?

                    31. Will the rest of the survivors learn about Hurley's fortune?

                    30. Will Jin learn about Sun's affair?

                    29. How did Locke's father get on the island?

                    28. Why do all pregnancies result in death on the island?

                    25. How was Walt able to appear to Locke and Shannon?

                    24. What do the numbers -- 4 8 15 16 23 42 -- mean?

                    23. Why does the doctor in the Dharma Initiative-orientation films have different names in different films?

                    15. Were the Others really having Sawyer and Kate help to build a runway?

                    14. What did the psychic that read Claire's future see?

                    13. Did Jack's dad really come back to life or is that an illusion?

                    11. Who besides Kate and Jack got off the island?

                    10. Who is Kate's unseen mate in the post-island flash-forward?

                    9. What's the deal with that four-toed statue from the Season 2 finale?

                    8. In Jack's post-island flash-forward, who was in the coffin?

                    7. What happened to Michael and Walt after they left the island?

                    6. What is Walt's power?

                    5. How did Mikhail (the eye-patch guy) appear to come back from the dead?

                    4. Why doesn't Richard Alpert age?

                    3. What is Jacob?

                    2. What is the smoke monster?

                    1. What is that island?

My own Baseless Theory on how this is going down
When we first encountered the "Others", and even following them through Season 3, we realized that these people "Worshiped" the island, like it was a living thing into itself. Locke was one of the survivors who really held to that trait. All the other survivors just wanted to gtfo asap.

Now, we have a basis on how the first people got onto the island, the Dharma people. But what about the "hostiles" before Dharma? Jacob and his gang that is. Jacob seems to have immense power stemming from the island and sees it as a living being as well.

Now, you see Jack and Hurley, they both stated that they need to go back to the island. Dunno when or how, but they need to go back, like the island is actually calling them back itself. Could this of been the case for other people in the past? And if so, when did the whole island business start anyways? I'm thinking this could be a perpetual cycle where Jack is the new Ben when all is said and done.

From this episode I gathered there would only be 6 people returning (do the others die or stay behind?). Hurley, Jack and Kate would be 3 off those based on the flash forwards.

About going back to the Island, in the flash forward Jack mentioned it (end of season 3) he had a big beard, seemed to have gone mental and living in a shack near the airport. Flash forward from this episode, Jack was living in a normal house, practising medicine again, and seeming quite sane. In other words, there is a lot of time in-between those 2 flash forwards.

Uhm, we just started season 4? that original plan is already out the window?

For the rest, when Lost is finally totally done.. I just have to take a week and look the whole damn show in a row.

Oooh wait, I get it. I forgot to write the source of that list up there when I posted it. I forgot where I got it now, lol, but it's not my doing. I don't believe the writers strike will change the way the series will pan out, but one big problem is they only shot 8 episodes of this season (16 total). With only half the season done, we will not have that "16 straight" we were hoping, unless something gets done fast.
