Well I was playing Baldur's Gate 1 and I traveled to the Inn and suddenly "Your group has been attacked" and I see 8 monsters on my 4 people group and p00f, all die in 2 seconds. I felt a let down (dunno if I did something wrong, I didn't even had time to react or get a good gear to handle this, so what? just reload and try cross the land again? sucks. fuck 90's).

Anyway Heroes of might and magic 3 is the best from HMM series.

Freelancer is an amazing game, the online mods are really great (try discovery mod if I remember correctly, they got a strong RPG community there).

Half Life doesn't matter what kind (1,2).

Populous the beginning (lol?), Played the demo, Fell in love and bought the full game. Had really fun times with it online (with 56k modem!)

Well the most replay value I had from PC games that I bought was from Half Life and Diablo 2. I also bought Guild Wars (God what I did to get this game), and now it sits in my drawer for like 3 years. The most disappointing game I bought ever.
I've played Diablo 2 and agree you can have fun with it for ages, always trying out your newfound skills on old monster, and trying to get better loot. Just talking about it now makes me want to play it again :P
Baldur's Gate was indeed a hard game to start with, as it was totally unforgivable on mistakes early on in the game. Once you manage to stick ONLY to the paths, don't sleep anywhere and don't try to go anywhere but where you should go it should be relatively safe. Both baldur's gate titles and extensions are easily the best games I've ever played. Most have finished both around 5 times, with baldur's gate 1 even in multiplayer.
Other fun games: GTA, Unreal, Clonk (small german manufactured game, loads of fun if you get down the controls), Pharaoh, Sim City 4000?, morrowind and command and conquer. (most of the C&C games are cool).

Baldur's Gate playing style is something I can not connect with. I prefer Investing my love on one character than 8

Neverwinter Nights for example, great game.

A couple, might help if you give us an idea of what you like.

            HL2 Orange box contains:
            Half-life 2 + Episode 1 + Episode 2- Great game, sure you've played it.
Portal - Short, but great fun with a good gimmick (no traditional enemies, you use portals to move) has a dry sense of humour and a very original ending.
Team Fortress 2 - Purely multiplayer game, not played it myself but appears to be pretty good.

Crysis - "Epic" FPS. Arguably the best graphics of any game currently available (but with requirements to match). It's the "spiritual sequel" to FarCry. It's mostly set on a jungle island.

Call of Duty 4 - FPS set in current times. The campaign is set in the Middle East and Russia. Incredibly action packed with a decent storyline. The missions are pretty varied too. The multiplayer is currently my game of choice. It's simply so good to play online.
USS Banana after years of superior jav play has amassed 17999 kills, he is 1 kill away from 18k, Type ?go Javs FOR A GAME OF HUNT (no scorereset) -Kim

I have to agree with Ewan.

When it comes to FPS action, there's nothing I'd like to recommend more than Team Fortress 2. The 9 classes are very different, and very enjoyable in their own way.

Since you got so many chokepoints to fight through on so many maps, you get some really good action, and gives your several situations where your own skill and resourcefulness can sparehead your team.

I love the graphics, the comments and the quick pace.

This gem comes bundled into the Orange Box, which is without doubt the product that gives you the most gaming for your money.
