Finally: professional English StarCraft casting!

Nick went from top US WCG StarCraft contender to part-time entertainer/commentator to full-time employee halfway around the globe as a caster for the most popular RTS game of all time.
As I'm sure absolutely none of you know, it took well over a year for Nick to finally get an in-house commentator spot in Korea for one of the top gaming TV stations, namely TV Arirang / GOMTV (who are casting exclusively on-line).

I now relay to you his plea:

it's 9:40 pm in korea and i'm going to bed soon. tomarrow i'll be casting group A of the GomTV Star Invitational. i ask you all to please tune in, even if your sleeping lol. the VODs will also be stored on GomTVs data bank so if you, for any reason, can't tune in live you can still see the recordings later on. I am really hoping we can get as many hits for this as humanly possible. GomTV has invested more into this project than you know, so please show them how much we care.

The first game starts at 3:00 pm, i'll be there two hours in advance. I would also appriciate it if no one rips the vods off the site to put on youtube. this would reduce the number of hits GomTV gets.

Also, if you want to discuss the games while they're going on please use the GomTV fourm rather than the Tl.net fourm. i want the sponsors to see people discussing the games on their site rather than this one. you can find the fourm here:

Please post this on every fourm and news site you can think of. everyone needs to be reminded this is about to start. go spread the news! if this works we may see A LOT more english casts of SC in the future.

Blizzard surely did magics with their games... amazing company.

Its kinda funny to see how people get exited about this game tho.
Is it sponsored? I think i saw some where that in South Korea those competitions gives a lot of money and that people live by playing this.

Gretech To Broadcast GOM TV Starcraft Invitational League

Games will be broadcast live both in English and Korean
SEOUL, South Korea, February 5, 2008 - Gretech Corporation of South Korea announced today that it will begin XNOTE-Intel Centrino GomTV Star Invitational, a StarCraft game league made up of the world's best players sponsored by Gretech and supported by XNOTE and Intel.

Games can be watched live on the English homepage (http://gsi.gomtv.com) and previous games are also provided as Video-on-Demand. Under 'Participants,' viewers can see the profiles of the 16 participants of the league as well as the players' best performance video clips.



Nicolas Alexander Plott, a well known StarCraft commentator in the U.S., will be commenting the games live. Gretech has already successfully broadcast live in English before in November, 2007 when '21st Century Computing Conference' by Microsoft was broadcast by Gretech for four hours both in English and Korean.

For network stability, Gretech invested around 1 million USD dollars in order to support up to 40,000 concurrent viewers online and set up streaming servers in the U.S. and in Japan. In addition, in case there is an unexpected high traffic, a server maintenance team is on standby 24 hours a day 7 days a week while the league is playing.

International eSports communities are already showing a strong interest. Team Liquid, a StarCraft fan website, broadcast the group drawing live by text, and there is an opinion poll asking 'GomTV Star Invitation Group of Death.' As of this press release, group B with Jaedong, Nada, Much, and Boxer is leading the poll.

The first match starts on February 17th at 6PM Korea Standard Time.
