God Might you're an idiot! You're only excuse for thinking the Mist wasn't fucking stupid is that you were stoned while watching it.. And even then..

(oh btw this post will be full of spoilers)

The ending made no sense. The whole film is a typical horror/monster-movie, with a hero-dad. The hero-dad risks his life a few times, first slashing into the tentacle, hunting a flying creature with a torch, then leaving the store to get some medicine to ease the pain of some guy who was stupid enough to set himself on fire.. Three times already that he leaves his kid (uber-annoying) apart to fight of these creatures (not one bit scary). Then he flees the store with a small group of followers, and beat off some more huge-spiders and other scary creatures to get to his car.
Then KABOOSH, an entire different movie in the last 5 minutes, with completely different characters. The same hero-dad + 3 folllowers are stupid enough to let the car run out of gas in the middle of the road, instead of trying to get another car / gas / shelter or w/e to win some more time trying to get safe.. These 4 adults suddenly all turn 180 degrees and decide simultaneously within a minute to commit mass-suicide (My guess is that it was the crappy hymn music that pushed them over the edge). I wouldn't mind this ending if during the movie we would've seen these characters grow insane/hopeless or w/e. The movie simply tried to go from B-horror movie to 'deep psychological drama' in an instant.
However that wasn't even a stupid enough ending yet. A minute later a huge army shows up and at the same time the Mist dissapears completely... Huh?
I only like plot-twists when they make sense.. I forgive the guy who also made Shawshank for not being able to make a standard horror-movie though..

Also; 28 weeks later, crappy sequel to 28 days later. Horror movie that refuses to keep to it's own simple horror-rules. Instead it adds a dramatic hollywood twist; all zombies are equally retarded, except foooor... SUPER-ZOMBIE-DAD, who would appear no matter where his kids fled! That just doesn't work for me.

Also; WAR. The best movie i've seen lately. Two hours of pure ass-kicking from Jet Li and Jason Statham. Also a surprise in the end, but it didn't harm the movie much. Only minus: not enough martial arts fighting for a movie starring Jet Li. No idea why it has a 6.2 on IMDB, deserves a 7.5 at least (it even has ninjas! :fear: :shuriken

ps. Jeeny; I just don't think Mike Myers is funny. Though fair enough, that guy in Biodome is 10 times more annoying with his laugh. Still don't like Wayne World.
pps. Nailed; That's unfair, I didn't even know you had rejoined the squad / still played!!

I didn't really care for the Mist either. The ending felt kind of cheap.

            1. I though Idiocracy was pretty funny. Stupid humor begets stupid laughs. If you don't analyze the intricacies of the plot (which you shouldn't) it's a very quotable movie...LIKE OFFICE SPACE.

            2. The Kingdom was not very good.

            3. I liked Be Kind, Rewind. A decent feel-good movie. I laughed through most of the Ghostbusters scene. Probably because they were playing the Ghostbusters song in the background (disclaimer: I'm a big fan of Michel Gondry's weird humor).

            4. Casey Affleck is a better actor than Ben Affleck.

              Overheard at work:

"So, I watched The Kingdom last night. Did you know that the 'Kingdom' they were talking about was Saudi Arabia? That totally took me by surprise. I thought it was going to be like Black Knight."

Southern Illinois fucking rules. I can't stand it.

In fairness, I never knew/forgot that The Kingdom was the shitty politics-marketed-but-not-political epic that Hollywood churned out last year. Had I been forced to guess I would have said something along the lines of Orlando Bloom-type shitty epic (Kingdom of Heaven). But then again, I wouldn't have blurted out my stupid and baseless guess at work either.

                  Meh, people are stupid worldwide.

Shit, I just found out who Casey Affleck is. He is a hell of a lot better than Ben. Now I'm curious as to what little kid he was in Chasing Amy.

I saw Fargo last night for the first time, I think I might have seen bits and pieces when I was younger but I'm glad I sat through it entirely.

                      • Rented No Country for Old Men and The Darjeeling Limited last week. Didn't know what to take from either of the films, not that it's bad though, was thoroughly entertaining.

And I saw One Piece's latest film recently as well, does that count?

                        • Last week I watched Network, an old (well old to me) movie with Robert Duvall and Faye Dunaway. Normally I don't like old movies because they drag too much, and this one did drag a little bit at times, but overall, the movie was fucking genius. A trillion excellent quotable lines.

The plot basically predicts the rise of the Fox network - the demise of real news as it has been replaced with garbage. By far the best movie I've watched in the last year (if not two or three).

                              • Finally got around to seeing Persepolis and loved it. Best animated movie I've seen in a long time.

Also had a great time watching Shoot 'Em Up mostly thanks to Paul Giamatti's villain. Really a deep, thought-provoking and multi-layered movie :redfaceol
