What is the minimum amount of money you'd need to feel extremely financially secure?

I agree with Mantra-Slider.
You can invest fairly conservatively and make 8% return.
$3 mil USD with 8% return means every year I get $100,000 plus another $140,000 to put back into the account. 50 years from now when I die, I die with more money than the $3 mil I started with, even after adjusting for 4% inflation.
Truthfully, I feel financially secure right now- $3 mil is the "don't work a single day and don't think too much about investing scenario". That's not financial security...that's being a lazy bum. And you can do that on a lot less money.

enough money to buy like an eighth of some dank weed per day as well as the quarter of shrooms per month (well it would be an eighth, then raise to a quarter being that you have to eat more every next use). and a good quality bong, as well as a vaporizer (volcano specifically or a supervapezilla) and a pipe as well as rice papers and golden-honey dutches. then money for an apartment (i dont need a house), clothes and food.
anyone want to calculate how much that will cost me if i lived for the next 50 years.
Note: weed will probably be 50-60 USD per eighth, shrooms about 140-160 USD per quarter, a good-quality bong is various prices, and a volcano would be like 500 USD (i dont know about the other vaporizer) and blunts cost less by the package but singles cost like 1.27 and i cant remember how much a rice paper would cost. and say the pipe was like 50 bucks. I dont need much clothes, i will have mad munchies though and a big enough apartment for like 2-5 people to live in.
I do it myself but im kind of stoned.sigpic

1. Buy a 3 mill bong that's 8 stories high and doubles as huge water slide.
2. Hire a horde of columbians to grow and bring up yer pot to America.
3. Pay off as many people as it took so you could legally ride your Segway on the street.
PS. Having a lot of money isn't something that motivates me. I'd rather be a humble hermit living off the land than filthy rich. ^-^

If I'd remain single:
5 million, maybe a little more
Wife:
10 mil
Wife n kids:
10 mil (who needs to feed kids anyway, can't they just chew grass?)
Edit: If it's not a question about feeling financially secure but a question of how much I figure I could spend easily in my lifetime on "normal" things (anyone can can make a dollarburning powerplant, but what's the point): 100 million, roughly (half of it on estate, other half on tons of cool ass thingies):
four houses, two boats, ten cars. Damnit, it sure adds up to a whole lot of sweat and tears for my future5: Da1andonly> !ban epinephrine

chew grass = +1 rep for you!
I'd like to be able to give at least a million away to family and well wishers, and i'd require no more than 10 mil to own everything i'd ever possibly want, so I'd say 20 million would still suffice as giving me everything I need and more. I needless to say would be thrilled with a free amount of any denomination though. The only TWO TIME TWLJ All-Star and TWLB All-Star who never played a game.

$800,000 is all I'd need to be set for life (I've done the math).
It's morbid to factor this in, but my father is an only child and his parents are in their mid 80's so I'm due to get $100-150k when they pass away in a few years. I'd gladly give that up to have them live longer, but I'm nothing if not practical.

Now that this thread is about being just normally financially secure without working, I'd lower myself to $3 millions. That would get me 5 apartments/houses, which in return would generate 5000$ per month. Remove insane Norwegian income taxes from that, and I'd have somewhere around 3300$ per month to spend on bills/living.Da1andonly> man this youghurt only made me angry
