    1. Has music evolved through the years?
    Yes

    2. Is music evolving positively?
Don't really think you can put a positive or negative on that.

    3. Is the music scene effected by society?
    For sure.

    4. Is society effected by the music scene?
    Somewhat

    5. Have we reached an end in the music evolution process with rap/hiphop?
Don't know, not into that type of music.

    6. Should we expect a blend of genres in the future?
Probably, already occures to a limited extent already.

    7. Do you expect any "dead" genres of music to be "revived"?
    Possibly

    8. Is the evolution of music (speeding up, slowing down, staying the same) due to the advancements in music distribution, ie: downloading/youtube
I don't really think that quick distribution, at this point in time, really effects the speed at which music is evolving. I haven't noticed any real big steps in the evolution of music in the last 10 years.

    9. Are reality shows like American Idol (positively, negatively, not) affecting the music scene?
While American Idol gives singers a chance to sing, the company bringing them into the scene gives them the music to sing (at least for the first album, not sure about after that). So, I really don't think it has much effect, especially when it comes to the evolution of music, as you don't really get the same creativity from music that is 'mass produced' as you would from an individual/band creating their own music.

Kept it as short as I could. :P

It's these little things, they can pull you under.

Live your life filled with joy and thunder.

    Yeah, yeah we were altogether

    lost in our little lives.

      1. Has music evolved through the years?
      Obviously..

      2. Is music evolving positively?
Subjective, plus to me differs per genre. There's a total lack of evolvement in the classical rock scene for instance!

      3. Is the music scene effected by society?
Music is a cultural expression, so in some cases yes because what happens in society is often reflected in music. It would be a generalization though to say yes here..

      4. Is society effected by the music scene?
Effected on what level? Micro, macro? Some people can get really affected by music (music therapies and weird shit like that) others are more casual about it.. I'm much more the latter case (except perhaps when I'm drunk). On a macro level; the music scene is often called the music industry for a logical reason, a lot of money goes around in music.. so yeah, pick your answer....

      5. Have we reached an end in the music evolution process with rap/hiphop?
Yes, rap/hiphop is the final stage of the evolution of music! What?! (sorry but that was a really weak question, hope my sarcastic yes doesn't screw up your results)

      6. Should we expect a blend of genres in the future?
As music is evolving, there's also some blending between styles going on.. And I doubt it would suddenly stop in the future that's for sure.. Weird question man..

      7. Do you expect any "dead" genres of music to be "revived"?
I don't know which genres are dead, or if any are at all. There's always some weirdo who still listens to 80s disco synthesizers crap.. There's also some genres I'd wish would die out, like German schlagermusic. Does that count as an answer as well?

      8. Is the evolution of music (speeding up, slowing down, staying the same) due to the advancements in music distribution, ie: downloading/youtube
Difficult to answer this without doing a study first. However since most things are speeding up because of the internet, I'm gonna guess the answer will be, it's slightly speeding up. As creative people are able to listen to more different kinds of music they're becoming more inventive as well maybe? Also 'artists' who make really weird uneasy-to-listen-to music might find some listeners on the internet while before they'd get none at all..?

      9. Are reality shows like American Idol (positively, negatively, not) affecting the music scene?
I honestly do not care about shows like that since aren't my cup of tea. However I remember hearing in England this average, fat looking bloke became a hit with his opera singing, which was kinda funny, so I guess it can be positive as long as it's not about looks per se.. If the latter is the case I don't see anything positive about it for the 'evolution of the music scene' (I'm guessing your survey is about that in someway?) (still nothing wrong with videoclips with hot girls)
Bit poor questions maybe, especially since you say they're close-ended, while most aren't + they're quite vague/interpretive at times... Meh, good luck anyway...

                1. Has music evolved through the years?
                Well, duuh.
                2. Is music evolving positively?
Very subjective question. If you know where to look, id say yes. But in general? No.
                3. Is the music scene effected by society?
                Of course
                4. Is society effected by the music scene?
                Smaller effect, but yes
                5. Have we reached an end in the music evolution process with rap/hiphop?
I really, REALLY hope so. Just let it die...
                6. Should we expect a blend of genres in the future?
Isnt everything a blend of different genres? Music that you can really pin down into one category is more or less rare, and imo, dull.
                7. Do you expect any "dead" genres of music to be "revived"?
I guess so. Maybe. But the names of the genres will be different to avoid being called 'oldfashion'. So if you can really speak of a revival, thats up to you.
                8. Is the evolution of music (speeding up, slowing down, staying the same) due to the advancements in music distribution, ie: downloading/youtube
I think it is a factor in the process, but not the only one.
                9. Are reality shows like American Idol (positively, negatively, not) affecting the music scene?
Those music shows promote the same music over and over again. I seriously cant find many differences between winners from the past years. Those competitions on itself dont have a great influence on the music scene, since the one kid that can do what is already popular, will most likely win. If you want something new, shows like American Idol isnt the place for it.
                happy?

                  1. Has music evolved through the years?
Changed yes, not so sure I would call it evolved, which would imply being more specialistic or "better"

                  2. Is music evolving positively?
Mainstream music is not evolving positively in my opinion, but by definition the answer should be yes, otherwise it wouldn't be mainstream now, would it.

                  3. Is the music scene effected by society?
Yes, music always goes slightly over the limits of society, think kiss in the 80's and death metal bands now.

                  4. Is society effected by the music scene?
                  Yes (clothing style en habits)

                  5. Have we reached an end in the music evolution process with rap/hiphop?
No, african drum music also sucked, didn't end there either.

                  6. Should we expect a blend of genres in the future?
No, like science, we always think we are at the pinnacle of everything, but usually new stuff always gets invented.

                  7. Do you expect any "dead" genres of music to be "revived"?
Mainstream no, but small subgroups of listeners will always exist that revive dead genres. Think classical music and rock (although they aren't dead, just out of mainstream).

                  8. Is the evolution of music (speeding up, slowing down, staying the same) due to the advancements in music distribution, ie: downloading/youtube
Changes have more chance of reaching the worldwide audience, so would happen at a higher frequency. Also, it is more likely to branch out as everyone can listen to exactly what they want

                  9. Are reality shows like American Idol (positively, negatively, not) affecting the music scene?
Not, it just gives a good summary of mainstream pop music at a given time.

                    1. Has music evolved through the years?
of course. it would be stupid to disagree.

                    2. Is music evolving positively?
this question implies that question 1 only has one answer: that music is evolving.

regardless, i feel that it is, although fans of classical and hipsters might disagree. i think the problem is, people look at mainstream too seriously... no, the problem is they look at mainstream, period. for me, to see music's continued progression, i can just hop down to the local venue - with a music-rich culture, even the local punk bands in my city are doing incredible things with blues and r&b. some of these guys are making music that me and my father can both enjoy - which, to me, speaks in of itself about music's positive evolution.

                    3. Is the music scene effected by society?

                    yes.

                    4. Is society effected by the music scene?

                    yes.

                    5. Have we reached an end in the music evolution process with rap/hiphop?

no, not at all. look at the underground hip-hop guys, look at these "neo-soul" gigs like the Roots and Erykah Badu. i think rap/hip hop is just as valid a form of music as any, and i would rather listen to an hour of lil jon than five seconds of anything that 'pioneer' john cage did.

if anything, rap is still in its infancy - look at how it's being fused and expiremented with. especially now that white people are now legitimate hip-hop artists, all sorts of crazy shit will be had.

                    6. Should we expect a blend of genres in the future?

yes, just like we witness them blend every day. when you get down to it, though, every musician is a "blend" of so many genres - or, more correctly, every musician does his or her thing, and then we all struggle to define it.

so yes, as surely as people change, so will music.. and i guess, so will genres.

                    7. Do you expect any "dead" genres of music to be "revived"?

given that dead genres are being constantly re-explored... why not? unless we all give in to the temptation of having robot ears... in that case, humanity ends with Techno.

                    8. Is the evolution of music (speeding up, slowing down, staying the same) due to the advancements in music distribution, ie: downloading/youtube

a quick look around the reality we inhabit produces from within me a hearty, resounding "yes". it wouldn't be too crazy to say that music has probably become a resoundingly unique human trait, in that it has ceased being some sort of function with a purpose - we can make music for pleasure. now that the ability to record an album is so easy a kid with a laptop can do it... we will really see music begin to evolve. music used to be reserved, in a sense - you had to train at it, get famous, etc etc... but now anyone can make avaliable anything they feel like releasing, and that music in turn influences more and more people.

                    9. Are reality shows like American Idol (positively, negatively, not) affecting the music scene?

it really doesn't matter... some people enjoy american idol. i don't, but i've never really watched it, so i'll save my judgement. regardless, american idol has never prevented any other musician from doin' what they do... so, in that way, they don't really hinder the evolution of music.

but i still think clay aiken was and is a fucking faggot shithead.
