  • The Price of Living

A lot of discussion seems to evolve over how much things cost in different areas of the world. I just wanted to get a perspective about how much people spend on the little stuff. A lot of this stuff would change day to day, so just give a somewhat current number. (don't include sales/deals/i know a guy)

    For example:

    A gallon of gasoline : $3.25/gal
A bottle of namebrand water : $1.29 for a 20 oz. bottle of Dasani
    A 6-pack of say Newcastle/other imports : $8.99
    A 6-pack of say Budweiser/other domestics : $5.99
    A dutchmaster cigar : $1.00
    A McDonalds Doublecheeseburger : $1.00
An 1/8th of decently good weed : $45.00
An oz of crap weed : $60.00
    Bus fare : $1.50
Going to see a movie : $5-$6 for students, $7-$8 otherwise

Also, some geographic information would help too:

Southeastern United States, City of 100,000-500,000 people

That's funny (or not): I don't know the prices of any of those things you list in my area (Southern Ontario right now).

Things that I do know the price of....

"High-speed" (note the quotation marks) DSL: $39.99 a month.
      Landline telephone: ~$23.00 a month.
Chicken wings (I have an strange addiction to these things): ~$4.00 for 500g.
Welch's grape juice concentrate for ~2L (strange addiction to this stuff as well): $1.59
775g box of bran flakes: $2.99
      Electricty: ~$.06 per KWh
A meal at a casual fine dining restaurant I might go to: $30.
A drinkable bottle of wine from the LCBO: $10.
      Rent (shudder): $850 a month.

I can't remember the prices of anymore food that I buy; I don't think I generally pay attention to the price even, I guess I just buy what I want, though it's usually cheap stuff.

My girlfriend pays 8 but most people pay between 5-6. Sheridan College costs me about 4-5k, most of Fleming/Humber's programs are 3-4k. The programs are longer at Humber so it's all relative.

I also live in the South, so dank and I have similar prices

though, shreveport is an 'oil city' (standard oil used to call us home until those bastards broke it up) so gas is always cheaper here (go 20mins out of the city and gas goes up to 3.25 or so)

we're also near the border and in between dallas and new orleans, so drugs are also cheap. $120 will buy you a quarter-pound of schwag. i love buying qp's, it's like having a small child. made out of marijuana.

food prices have been rising... my pal and i planted some vegetables in one of our pastures. i hope it pays off, i hate manual labor

you should get a strawberry plant, you can hang it on a wall outside and eat off it everyday. I can only grow strawberries 4 months a year but it only cost me $10 so it's worth it.

not at all, just hang it in an area that gets sunlight and water it every other day, be weary of too much sun though. On your way out you'll be eating strawberries and allowing fresh vines to grow.

$10 investment = a bowl of fresh organic strawberries every other day
