First off - if you want to call out the other guy, stop being a little bitch about it and do it in a more direct way.

Secondly, you shouldn't be dating someone who clearly needs therapy and/or counseling. If you're going to be a friend, get her some professional help and give her some time. Since you're clearly aware that you're "too late" and won't be able to help her, find someone who can and drop the macho bullshit. Do you really think kicking the shit out of her old bf would help her get better, or take away the "scars" that she already has? Maybe it's time to realize that being a man is more than a simple, physical presence.

Lastly, if you're really hellbent on staying with this girl so you can fight for her, make sure that she's the one you're fighting for - and not for your own little crusade for chivalry.

If you aren't positive you're ready to deal with the amount of baggage she has, it's best for the both of you to cut loose as soon as possible, and just be there for her as a friend. After what she's gone through, the last thing she needs is a guy who seems promising but eventually can't handle the stress that will come from the relationship, and end up leaving her. There will be stress and drama, oh boy is it going to rear it's ugly head. I have friends that are dating and have dated girls that have been abused in the past (physically and emotionally) and it's very, very taxing on the boyfriend (you). I don't even know you or really like your posting in the past, but I'm still trying to warn you ahead of time; it's going to be rough. Even getting into arguments and yelling with girls that have been physically abused can break them down and having them crying in no time flat- you said she even flinches when you try to put your arm around her.

If you think you can be patient and supportive enough to her, by all means go ahead, but if you have doubts, don't make it worse on either of you.

My advice is this.

If shes really hot stick with it, otherwise walk away. find a hotter girl with less problems. Harsh but her problems are hers to solve herself, you can't help someone with a problem like that, support yes, but its there problem to solve not yours.

She has a problem (victim mentality :P) if hes still calling her, she should have changed her number already. She shouldnt even being talking to this asshole, except via a laywer. Put it this way she's not doing things to get him out of her life she should be doing, thats damaged goods in my book - avoid (unless you can justify in some way - great sex/brilliant body/soulmate).

Incidently criminal charges might not stick, but civil damages is defiantly a route worth pursuing, nothing hurts a guy like hitting his wallet.

The whole "me beating him down" or "calling him out on a spaceship forum" thing is really just a way of me venting in a way that cannot be punished. If I had to, i would get physically involved to stop him from doing it "again", but I'm not going to go out looking for him, because that would contradict the point of being with her in the first place. What Ive tried to do thus far is show her that A) I'm not going to hit her B) Be understanding to the fact she is guarded C) Be her friend more than her boyfriend... I like the way bio put it "being a man is more than a simple, physical presence" This is just a first for me. NYPD will nnot issue a restraining order either, we've tried. There's a whole mess of other complications as well, but not worth getting into them all here. She's a great girl when she's out of her shell, its KEEPING her out of it that I'm having difficulty with.
