I see the evolution of the media as…
      newspapers -> radio -> tv -> 24 hour tv -> internet

With this evolution, competition has increased many fold. The traditional 'if it bleeds, it leads' mentality has given way to 'breaking news' mentality with the objective delivery of information being the victim. Since this has made it more work to be well informed, society now relies on 30 second sound bites, bumper stickers, and other unverified delivery mechanisms as its primary news sources.

i'm well aware of what it was trying to accomplish and sure, i chuckled a couple times, but overall it was a let-down. and sure, whatever, give the characters more depth, i enjoy them. but please, PLEASE, base an episode purely in the office. all it has been this season is office parties, office events, parties outside the office, or a different office. i enjoy the characters, but i'm also a huge fan of the setting that the series is titled after.

and if i had to choose a favorite part it would be
"jim, pam, can i stay at your place?"
        "sorry, apartment's on fire."
        "flooded."
        "right, flooded."

Meanwhile CNN post-9/11 really dropped the ball. That was reflected in their ratings which plummeted, but now that they are slowly going back to the real news that made them relavent in the first place, they are slowly regaining credibility.
I think CNN was a highly credible news organization that earned its spot as number 1 after the first gulf war. Live from Baghdad is an amazing movie that really shows a fair and balanced side of Iraq as well as the journalists that covered that war. I think the way they've been covering news for the past couple of years has been disgusting, 'Bombs are off and this war has started', what kind of teaser is that?

As far as Canadian news goes, it's true the CBC is quite good and also has very good shows such as The Fifth Estate, but keep in mind the CBC is a publicly funded enterprise.
You and me probably both agree that it's a necessity to have Canadian journalism in Canada. The sad thing is that it's a damned if you do and damned if you don't scenario. The CBC has proven itself to be a stable long lasting news organization, regardless of where they get their money.

it's our fault really, we love sensationalism in journalism.

They need us for water and lumber, we also sell them oil. We are depended on for a lot of natural resources, it's not that they can't get these elsewhere it's just stupid not to get them from Canada given our geographical location to America. I guess I do feel like big brother isn't treating little brother with a bit of respect, millions and millions given in the hopes of protecting us from international crisis's that might lead to our downfall. I guess dropping bombs means we don't matter, but then again we are important and are involved in international politics. The whole argument that we're not important enough to be talked about helps us lose our independence, there's going to come a day when American interests push so far into Canada that you wont even know this is a country, not just an extension of a bunch of neo-colonials seeking to expand the American Empire. I refuse to let one more sovereign nation be crushed because it's a self-government.

Its pretty impossible to get an unbiased news report, just because as much as you think that anyone is unbiased theyre really not. I like my fox news because theyre at least biased in my favor. Other people will watch cnn. Those who look on the internet are getting the same biased information, just from a different source. Honestly, you almost have to piece the news together from a couple different sources to truly get different points of view. That or read between the lines. Youre an idiot to take what you're reading as truth all the time anyway

I agree with Fandago that it was an unbelievably uncomfortable episode. I also agree with Jeenyuss that it didn't meet my laugh-out-loud expectations although it did add character development and was entertaining. Personally, I liked when Michael and Jan are fighting over having a child while Dwight is standing in the door way and it ends up with Jan saying "FINE LET'S HAVE A FUCKING KID". Then Dwight says "So... can we come in?".

Stayon> That type of thing, when you're married for 50 years but you know you fucked up when you dropped chilli sause on your elitist rich boss, while crossing the cafeteria's lunch zone, getting you fired, because you were distracted admiring the cleaning lady's ass that you beated off to, when your sluggish wife and two retarted kids were asleep.

actually the point of watching various news outlets is to be able to detect bias.... not just be a flaming retard and know what you're seeing and reading is bullshit and accept it. Fox might be more right wing but they suck at being a news organization. It's not about them being in your favor, it's about them not giving you reliable news.

The new office was alright, it wasn't amazing but there was some awesome parts. I like when Jan smashes his TV and when he yells 'THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID'.

                    I liked the Office episode.

As for as news is concerned in the Netherlands, everyone with half a brain knows to stay away from the Telegraaf, NOS (our tv news thingy) is pretty solid, and we have a bunch of good papers.

I'm still trying to get through Dexter, Californication, The Tudors, BSG, and The Wire. Can't wait for summer, I'll have time to drown myself in TV,
