  • RCA speakers

I recently bought a Xbox 360 bundled with GTA IV. It hasn't come yet but I'm planning to use my PC monitor with it as I don't have a HDTV. I will use an official Xbox 360 HDMI -> DVI converter, which comes with the left and right RCA output cables (red and white ones you plug into your TV for the audio).

So I'm wondering if any of you guys use speakers with RCA inputs, and what make/model they are as I'm struggling finding ones that are relatively cheap.

    TIA

I used to use some Bose computer speakers at work. They had RCA inputs, but they sure weren't cheap.
Music and medicine, I'm living in a place where they overlap.

i've never bought one, but i'm sure that they make a convertor cable from RCA to minijacks or RCA to speaker wire. worst case you could just splice the wires yourself, right? not exactly sure how RCAs work but i've definitely seen some ghetto-rigged cables.

Also, if you can't find the cables, you could buy a cheap reciever. It'll have RCA inputs and probably speakerwire outputs

i'm not sure if you said you were looking specifically for speakers or if you're looking for a solution to your problem. If you have a set of speakers than this'll help you out.

here's a link to an online store that sells adapters from RCA to mini plug (computer speakers)

        http://www.audiogear.com/Audio-Adapters-Miniplug.html

scroll down and look for Female RCA to mini jack adaptors or cords

as for speaker wire, you can probably google and find an adaptor or splice it yourself

Thanks for your help, I was considering using a jack to converter so I could use it in the auxiliary input on my current speaker system, but unfortunately this speaker system is worse for wear so a new one is needed!

The 360 has an optical audio out port too. If you get a decent set of speakers, you can always just use that

those types of speakers generally don't need a preamp, and the ones that do comes with an internal one.
