check out sunwing.ca, they have $29 ticket sales on right now. If you're gonna trek around the east coast you might want to visit Toronto or Halifax. A lot of flights come from London to Halifax.

I found a $9 flight from Toronto to Montreal, I'm not sure if you'd consider spending a couple days in each place.

Buses are never fun but they get you where you need to go. Also make sure you stand in line 45 minutes at least prior to when your bus is suppose to leave because they overbook them.

Amtrak is extremely expensive, so are plane tickets. I would take buses if you're looking to save.

This is not good advice unless you are a fan of the homeless who lack bladder control or you have Ghandi-like patience.

you could check this out for 600 bucks

                  http://tickets.amtrak.com/itd/amtrak/selectpass

i dont think travelling by train would be all that bad, but for 600 bucks you could potentially get enough cheap one-way fares to get everywhere you want to go, which obviously would be preferable

How far in advance will you be coming to the states? Also, if you'll be flying into NYC, I can literally see JFK Airport, which is most likely where you will fly into, from my balcony, and I could give you quite a few good tips about the city. Where to go, where to avoid, prices, train stations, hotels, whatever. If you're interested, let me know, send me a ?message in game or a PM on here.

My 2 cents: NYC First Timers MUST go to central park.....based on when you actually come, there is guaranteed to be some sort of festival and/or celebration going on. Also i recommend the Museum Of Natural History, its huge, and FREE. They ask for donations at the door but you can give them a dollar if you want. Its centrally located too, so you can get anywhere in the city from there.

ive seen the entire country and I am from chicago, and ive lived years in the east coast due to being in the navy...

my advice is do not do the east coast tour, do a west coast tour... its way way way way way way way way way way way prettier and way way way way way way way way way way better in terms of everything except bad weather, which you won't find

my advice... start in chicago, go down into texas, new mexico, arizona, california, utah, colorado, wyoming

basically the southwest and pacific areas.... the east coast sucks

I'm flying to NYC, to JFK as thats the one having straight flights from Helsinki. I'll message you later when I get my dates in order, but I'll arrive somwhere around mid july leaving me about a month and a half to travel around.

With geno's comment, I'm not sure if the buses then are as nice to travel as they were in Turkey. Homeless people doesn't sound too much fun. And what the fuck is with this overbooking thing? airplanes? buses? They never overbook anything here, but I think its some law preventing that.

Amtrak actually gets me to every city I know in the country and sounds better all the time. First I really got the impression the train travel sucks in USA, but looking at the website its not sounding too bad. I still need to look into it better, but maybe I can combine all train, bus and planes to see as much as possible and make it cheap.

Exalt, I'm gonna try to see as much of the country as possible which means I'm trying to check out both east and west. I just need some recommendations from west as well what to see and do. And I'm gonna finish in Chicago as the school I'm gonna go is somewhere around there in Illinois.

Stor, don't forget, 200 dollars is like 20 euros.

And EVERY plane company and most hotels overbook. And most of the times its not a problem because some people never show up or cancel at the last minute or whatever.
Maybe God was the first suicide bomber and the Big Bang was his moment of Glory.

depends man, I took the greyhound for 9 hours to go to Montreal from Toronto and it wasn't that bad. They have a bathroom and they make 2 stops during that 9 hour trip. It cost me $90 total, I can get a cheap flight from time to time but sometimes that shit cost me over $400. But yeah there are sketchy people who hang out at bus stops but if you're not a complete tool you generally won't run into any trouble.

I wouldn't advocate taking greyhound if your trip is 15 hours or longer, but I pretty much slept my whole bus ride. The other otpion is taking the via-rail which is outrageously exspensive.

Hands down Amtrak is way better than the Via-Rail. Greyhound isn't that bad, but it depends how long the bus ride is. I think there's a lot of cheaper flights to fly within America opposed to Canada, so you're probably better of just flying everywhere and using Amtrak.

Good advice if you don't have to worry about money. I was raised on the East Coast, lived on the West Coast for awhile and attended college in Cleveland of which allowed me to hit the North Coast and some of Canada.

East Coast will have history and culture. West Coast will have...well...um...quite a few transplants from everwhere, burned out grass and shrubs...possible fires in Malibu or the Cleveland National Forest in Orange County.

Not to argue with Exalt, as I think the scenery and weather are nicer on the West Coast (in the winter), but travel distances considering a monetary budget are not in ones favor unless they have no worries about money. Personally I would take Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont in the summer for scenery over Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Texas, New Mexico & Arizona.

If it was a winter tour...I am in total agreement with Exalt.

It all boils down to your monetary budget. If you could rent a car, that would be the best...as long as your old enough.
