Eventhough it's still a bit far away (but by that time this thread will be dead, and now i can safe it in my calendar) im going to san francisco in september for work. im adding a few days of los angelos before the week, and a few days vegas after that week.

my jersey girl tells me the west coast has supurb sushi.

can anyone recommend a good sushi place in one of those places? (not a 500 dollar per person restaurant please, but it doesn't have to be super cheap).

    thanks in advantage!

Sorry Seal, can't help you there. I live exactly halfway between LA and San Francisco, and as such have not had a lot of opportunity to check out the sushi there.

Yeah, that's the best time. The fish is sold starting 5am at the Tsukiji fish market. If you eat it in the morning that's when it is at it's absolute freshest. The best damn fish you can get anywhere in the world, and I got all that for $40 USD.

I want to go to one of those sushi restaurants with the conveyor belts and you just pick up a plate of sushi and you pay-per-plate.

It looks fun, but I will probably go broke.

Conveyor belt sushi is actually the cheapest sushi you can get in Japan. I had a huge meal of about 16 pieces which cost me like $9 and the sushi was on par with the best quality you could get in Toronto (although not quite cut as expertly as Hiro of course).
