Teen gives LSD-laced cookies to police officers

LAKE WORTH, TX (NBC) - A Texas teen is behind bars after allegedly dropping off drug-laced cookies at two police departments.

18-year-old Christian Phillips delivered the cookies to police stations in Lake Worth and Blue Mound under the guise of Mothers Against Drunk Driving, police said.

It was a representative of MADD that made the phone call warning about the delivery.

Initial field tests showed the cookies to be laced with LSD and possibly marijuana.

Police found a list of about 25 local law enforcement agencies that presumably would be receiving such cookies.

The same man also dropped off a basket of cookies and other assorted candies Monday night at the Fort Worth police headquarters building.

He said the cookies were all eaten and the basket was empty by Tuesday morning.

At least three police officers including a sergeant and a detective were among those that consumed some of the items.

The department was contacting officers on the overnight shift who were possibly exposed, Henderson said.

Henderson said the three officers who ate the cookies were advised to go to the hospital.

Phillips had been doing community service work for an assault on police

can anybody find a more detailed source on this? I was under the impression that LSD would break down if cooked, and that it's usually in such small amounts that it would be hard to detect in a batch of cookies. The pot you could smell and taste, so i'm guessing that's what was in the cookies. Idiot police probably got a little stoned and thought they were "tripping balls man"

usually in some cases, marijuana laced food isn't that shocking of a news article.

It could be fabricated to sympathize with the police a little bit in maybe they might lose their minds.

or

someone just dropped the acid on the cookies after being baked (yes your right when acid gets ruined if cooked, or even frozen!)

LAKE WORTH, Texas (AP) - A Watauga teen recently left homemade cookies at a police station -- where he had been arrested last summer for hitting an officer.

Four Watauga officers ate the cookies.

The youth delivered treats to about one dozen other departments in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and falsely claimed to be from Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

Lake Worth police this week arrested 18-year-old Christian V. Phillips after officers - who'd been tipped off that MADD wasn't making such deliveries - accepted the basket.

Preliminary tests on the sweets found traces of LSD.

Phillips was arraigned today and jailed on $75,000 bond on a charge of tampering with a consumer product.

Phillips was on probation for assault after officers last year responded to a party at a house.

Now several departments are deciding whether to press charges and re-examining their policies on accepting homebaked goodies.

Too bad it doesn't make sense. Unless I wasn't a raving sociopath that would kill his mother with a chainsaw if it wasn't for these crazy laws and scary prisons. Ow wait, then of course I would prefer to make money on the free market. And hug trees.
