if you like Civ, it's a basic version of that for consoles.
If you don't know what Civ is -- buy it.

Yeah, if you're really heavy into the Civ series on the PC and pretty good at it there, you'd might find this console version to be too simplistic.

On the other hand, if you want shorter, faster-paced civ games and a more manageable online, then this might be up your alley. And, of course, you get the pretty 3D graphics.

I've had it for a few weeks now (guess it was released here early) and its quite good fun. At first I was afraid it would indeed be a lot more simplistic and thus less fun then the pc versions but its honestly not that bad.

The pace is a lot faster then in normal civ games (if you are the first to discover a technology you'll get an advantage from it, for example you'll get a rifleman build if you are the first to discover gunpowder) so its easy to quickly build up a decent force or to build your way towards a scientific or economic victory (you will always want to have an army around though).

The only thing that sometimes bothers me is the randomness. Sometimes you'll have a realy sucky start while other times you can get lucky and find one or more artifacts and gain such a massive lead that its pretty much gg within 3 minutes. But thats realy the only thing that bothers me.

I'd say that if you want to compare Revolution with civ4 then i'd say civ4 is a dinner then civ revolutions is more or less a quick snack. The taste isn't as refined or complex but it still tastes good =)
