    Yeah, and he was also the lead singer of that other band. What was it called again? Maybe Pearl Jam could tell us.

          Let us assume that a=1 and b=1

          a=b

          a^2 = ba <- Multiply both sides by "a"

          a^2 - b^2 = ba - b^2 <- Subtract b^2 from both sides

          (a+b)(a-b) = b(a-b) <- Factor

          a+b = b <- Divide (a-b) from both sides

          (1) + (1) = (1) <- Plug all the values back in

          2 = 1 QED PWNED

          -----------------------------------------------------------------------
          Obviously there is a reason why this is merely a joke, because there is a flaw in it, let's see if you guys can figure it out.

            This solution has a fault in that you divided both sides of an equation by (a-b). Unfortunately, since you let a and b both equal 1, you are in essence dividing both sides by 0. If we were to remain in the domain of real numbers, this is an illegal operation.
