This isn't a little pen knife we're talking about, but a large hunting knife. Reports say that the driver, a passenger and a passing trucker did try to reboard the bus and rescue the victim but the guy with the knife chased them. They managed to slam the door shut on the guy's arm with his knife slashing at them in the air.


It's easy for you to say that sitting in front of your computer, but try thinking the same way in the middle of the night after being awoken by a blood curdling scream.

hey i'm not faulting them, i'm just saying it's hard to believe that no one did anything. If people did try to stop him, bravo. I hadn't heard or seen anything that said they did until now.

Having been on many a travel bus, yeah there's not a lot of room. BUT there's nothing that crazy fuck could have done IF 3-4 people jumped him WHILE he was attacking the other guy. Granted, that's not how the situation unfolded - they didn't get the jump on him, they probably came in after he was a goner.

Also, I agree, do to the extent of his initial injuries and the fact they're in the middle of nowhere at night, he probably would have died anyway. BUT, at the time, you wouldn't know that. I probably would've ran off the bus with everyone else. I'm was just shocked because the last report i saw said something about the passangers watching him hold the head up to the window from outside - that's something I'd be willing to risk my life to help prevent.

I think that several factors contributed to no one helping him: most of the people were asleep, he was on the back of the bus (?), the shear shock at that type of violence, the speed of the attack, the fact that no one know's each other... there's a lot.

Said story. Not much more i can say i guess, I wasn't there and I bet those passengers are thanking god they're still alive.

I know it would be alot different in the situation, but I hadn't known anyone had tried anything. At least if some people did something, alright. The idea of everybody just watching, drives me batshit crazy. I would of tried to peg him in the head with as many things as he could - I can honestly say I don't give a shit if he has a Katana. I have good aim, and I'd at least try. Don't get me wrong, fucking scary situation, who knows what would happen.

I guess there's no way either you or I can know until I am in that situation. Just because everyone usually does something doesn't mean that I would. Most people drink alcohol. Most people don't have a college degree. Most people watch MTV. Most people are morons, so maybe you should stop making blanket generalizations before you criticize my judgment.

Again, the knife thing to me isn't a problem. I'm not trained or anything, but I'm pretty sure, if he's stuck in a cramped spot, busy stabbing/eating some guy, that I can hit him with either a rock, or an object and knock him out. I can't believe people wouldn't think of something so simple, even under the pressure/fright or whatever of the situation. It really sucks for the person being eaten that their wasn't someone on that bus to help him.
