    This video's a lot steadier: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oV5udSWJcZo

Check about 1:50 into it for the big one. You can hear people screaming when it goes.

This is what happened in Enschede after a fireworks factory/warehouse exploded:

So yeah, if nothing major happened you got off pretty good with that.

That video was shakier than Cloverfield, but the view of the explosion was amazing.

Most people were slowly being allowed back to their homes by 8 pm.

So far, there has only been one confirmed fatality, the firefighter, but reports say it wasn't a traumatic death. A friend of mine knows someone who works at the same station and he told her that it looked like a heart-attack that felled the 25-year fire department vet.

The missing propane plant employee hasn't been publicly identified yet, and still hasn't been found. 18 injuries were reported.

Overall, I think we got off very lucky, considering how much worse an explosion of this size could have been.

Another video. It's a little shaky, but you can see a shockwave sort of come off of the explosion.

Had to drive my sister to the airport today too. Luckily the 407 wasn't bad.

    Large propane explosion in Toronto

Explosions at a propane in Toronto has forced the evacuation of 12,000 people in the northwest part of the city.

The explosion reported blew out windows for several blocks. One firefighter has been sent to hospital with vital signs absent and another person, reported to be an employee of the propane facility, is unaccounted for. Apart from those two individuals, only minor injuries have been reported.

A stretch of a major highway that runs through the affected area remains closed while residents are being directed to nearby York University where they are receiving care.

I was awake when the explosion occurred before 4 am this morning, and I heard a large boom that I thought at the time was thunder, as it had been raining all weekend.

Coverage including video of one of the blasts, which sent a big ball of flame high above the skyline, can be found here: http://www.thestar.com/News/GTA/article/475696

So far, I think we got off lucky, and I can't imagine how much worse it could have been. One of the comments someone left on that page brought up an interesting point. Toronto finished second to Beijing during the selection for the 2008 Olympics. I'm wondering what kind of chaos it would have been if the Games were being held here right now.
