since i'm off this semester my job's paychecks are just gathering dust and interest instead of paying for tuition and so i think i'm going to hit up Philadelphia cause a few of my friends are up there (including, recently, one of the guys who was part of the whole possession/camping thing)

it will be my first visit up north and so i'm gonna need some help here. the only thing i know is that bus fare is gonna cost me something like $350 round-trip and i'll be staying with a friend in his house.

so, trenchwars, how much money should i bring? what's there to do, of interest, in Philadelphia? what should i know about the culture? (here, i can walk up to a random black dude and ask him for weed. can i do that there?) how is the transit system? any good shows/venues? how are the cops? the ladies? the food? depending on my finances, is there anywhere near philly that i could travel to?

and of course - anyone want to meet up?

Lots of places to go for either food-drink or live music depending on the type of music your into.

Is your friend living in center city? If so, you can walk to everything or take a cab...as well as use the subway.

Noting that harvest season is a little over a month away, there is not as abundant the good stuff and a lot of schwag available...unless you know an indoor grower.

If your looking for live music and bars, the 2nd & Chestnut Street area is a good place to start.

I would suggest getting the City Paper as soon as you arrive, as this will have the listing for music as well as other things happening in the city and vacinity.

You can always travel to Atlantic City or even Manhattan by train at 30th Street Station in Center City.

When exactly will you be in town? I can always scan a City Paper and the events happening as a PDF and email it to you.

Philly is a cool place in the Fall. As for the Cops...they are dicks...as for asking for weed...mmmmm...not a good idea unless your looking for crap.

I don't know what it's like buying weed in the south but in the Northern States/Canada it's kind of flaming retarded to go up to a black guy especially in the city and buy drugs, it's usually not worth the trouble... trust me man, I've tried.
