Apparently Zak Snyder is taking a different approach to the end and having Dr. Manhattan become the great force Earth can unite to fight. It jives with him leaving Earth because they can scapegoat him even though that isn't the reason he chooses to leave. I kinda like that better than the mutant squid/vagina that attacks New York in the end. There's still going to be a lot of bodies and blood.
The book really got to me though. It poses a lot of really good questions about God and the world in the post-nuclear age. When Rorschach got zapped I was really disappointed, but overall a really good book.
