There is a big fiasco here about someone at Community Services treating visiting politicians with Perrier and Starbucks. They're calling these items "luxury". Maybe that's why good politicians are hard to find in Canada.

The governments do have a responsibility to help these flailing companies because they provide so many jobs within the economy. The ideal way to fix things would be for the government to take this as an opportunity and make the eco-friendly thing a required target for these domestic companies so that this situation won't happen again, AND they can actually get to where the foreign companies already are, not to mention surpass them... but I do agree, you have to be pretty damn lucky to get bailed out just because your company is too stupid to heed the warning signs.

Hopefully prices will drop if they file for bankruptcy and I will finally go out and buy a new car. Not many US models are on my list (except the Pontiac G8 GT), but I do have a GM Visa card.

Why would you hate on unions? The fact that non-union workers get the same or better benefits is mainly because employers have to keep them on par with union standards, or people won't work for them.
Of course unions are expensive and might harm business, but a prosperous country should be able to afford these conditions over the backs of poor countries. You should try to look up the circumstances of the common man before your country had unions.

No, I haven't heard a single thing. I know DHL was shutting down, but on the local news? not that much. I think it is mostly affecting the Cleveland, Canton, and Akron areas, the more industrial regions of OH. I'm in more of an agriculture-centered region. I think we all know what i mean by that.
