why would a $3billion company like GM need more than $15billion, anyway?

I think more positions in government should rhyme like "Car Czar".

However and not that I am for the bailout, but a Bad Auto Bailout Is Cheaper Than Any Bank Bailout. In the news it has come to my attention that of the $350 billion first installment of the $750 bailout, only $15 billion is left. These scumbag assholes in Washington–Democrats and Republicans–decided to write Bush a blank check for $750 billion, and his cronies have been handing it out to their corporate buddies on Wall Street and in banks all over, just in time for the holidays.

One can call this an afterthought, but our Federal Government has really become quite good at creating such fear amongst the peoples of this nation that they achieved the banking/wall street bailout.

There is still time to invade another nation if they can spin the fear factor in the next few weeks.

Reminds me of the Family Guy episode when Lois runs for Mayor and uses the term terrorists and 9/11 in every answer to her questions. Fear, it makes a country ....broke?

FYI, new Hondas are very often made in america. I'm not sure how multinational companies work, but would they be able to impose tarriffs on goods made inside the US? At first glance, i'd say no, but i could be wrong.

I haven't seen or heard one average person (D or R) that favored the bail-out. I think 404 is right, it's just a way to slow the lay-offs down, and not have a million people out of a job overnight. They better start looking soon though, because it might be gone by June (or sooner).

Who knows. Honestly! With no oversite on any of the loans already given and the possibility of an Auto Bailout with possible stipluations that have absolutely nothing to do with the bailout itself...Kthx, HTF or Izor, back me up on this...the Dem.s are not living up to that transparency that they promised to the country when it comes to add-on and pork spending.

I am not a GOP lover or a declared conservative...I am not a tree hugging hippie either. But the political spectrum we have between both parties is broke with lifetime politicians that couldnt land a job on a production line if their lives depended upon it.

So in looking at what happens when the 25B is spent and there is nothing to show for it...at that point I would say it's anyones guess.

GM is sponsoring the Chinese autos that are to be manufactured in Mexico and shipped into the States and yet they cry about money and thier workers while they undermine themselves. The CEO of GM was saying how they wouldn't want to cut Hummers from the production line, as there is still a market for this car, yet Saturn and aquired Suzuki (which make money for GM) may be on a chopping block...and they want to keep Humvee? WTF?

The money should not go to GM without oversite and that in itself should be independent from the Auto Industry and the Federal Government. Chrysler is a privately owned company and I personally feel they should not be able to partake of any bailout due to this. Ford has said they do not need the bailout money, so let Ford keep on keeping on as they have been...good for them.

It boils down to the Idiots at GM. If they wanna make some sense in my view, get rid of Dodge. What a loser company.

I am just a forum user and who cares what I think...I just like to bitch about it.

the problem with this entire promise is now the democrats want to enforce even more green cars. So after giving 25 billion they are now trying to enforce more regulations. Normally for a profitable company this isnt a problem. But new green technology is expensive and once we change from gas to batteries we are stuck under the Chinese because (correct me if im wrong) they are the supplier of those products. These batteries can cost anywhere from 3-6k.

Honestly congress needs to revoke some of the oil companys patents on engine/vehicle designs. And put back a cap on oil. Chevy needs to go back to producing vehicles using geo's specification, because they had a car back in the 80s 90s that got 60 miles to the gallon... If you have the rights to this car why the hell arent u making it. Not to mention they cost anywhere from 2k-4k 15 years ago
