  • Generation KILL...

This was strictly a brief HBO ONLY series back in the late summer of 2008, but you can still watch it online at any Free TV site (surfthechannel, hulu).

I'm not a big fan of any of the most recent war movies/documentarys made strictly for Iraq and/or Afghanistan due to the lack of reality in them. 99% Of the movies made since Desert Shield in the 90's have been utter crap and nothing like the real thing. With that being said, has anyone else seen this series?

I would recommend it to war movie enthusiasts and people who just want to satisfy their curiosity on what it's really like in the military today. Based on MY EXPERIENCES ALONE this show has to be the single most realistic depiction of wartime bullshit out of every other movies I've ever seen that I can relate to. It focuses less on the special affects of shooting somebody in the face (for once) and instead aims to show the viewer all the different personalities in command, and all the political bullshit we had to deal with over there (Much stricter now than it was in 2003). Anyways, since we're all on break anyways, I recommend you check it out when you get some time.

Yeah, this was fucking awesome. I will watch anything Simon and Burns throw my way, no questions asked.

I happened to see Fick's book at Borders on sale for 4.99, so I picked it up, and it was interesting how he almost entirely shied away from describing the conflicts with his superiors. Granted, he probably felt he had to do that, but it's still kind of interesting given that he hadn't been in the military in quite a while at the time he wrote the book. Motherfucker graduated from Dartmouth, then joins the most elite Marine unit there is, and now goes to Harvard and JFK business school. Depressing what other people can accomplish.

edit: If you're going to watch this, watching it on shitty megavideo on the internet is no way to do it. I'd Netflix or rent it, for sure.
