i stayed in a hostel in russel square. was only a few mins from the underground. it was a crappy one though, try one a hostel with at least a bar. i'd say as long as it's near the underground it should be fine- you'd probably be buying underground day tickets anyway so it doesnt matter how much you use the tube

*Angel/Islington (good restaurants etc)
Good nights out/good clubs are:
*fabric - drum and bass/dubstep/electronic

*Proud - indie/alternative/electro
*SE1 - reggae/soul/dub/funk
*Bar Rumba - underground/hiphop
*The Big Chill House - acid jazz/house/funk/trip hop
*Mass Club - dubstep/drum and bass
Nice places:
Soho/Camden/Bloomsbury/Kensington/Brixton
Places to avoid:

You should also get yourself a weekly travel pass as well - they cost about £20 but it means you won't need to keep topping up your oyster card to use tubes/buses.
