At least I'm not trying to make this thread about laughing at him and calling it karma, that's classless. At the same time for someone to completly knock our health care system I feel completly justified to knock it back when I get the chance. The real answer, is that neither system is perfect, but if I can rub it in his nose once in awhile then I will. Anyways, I've moved on. I'm not Epinephrine nor am I Jerome, I don't want to turn this into a 2-person thread that involves me spending an average 30 minutes on every post. I rubbed it in his nose, and now I've moved on to bigger and better things.

    Get better Izor.

And if you paid attention to my situation at all, you'd understand that the military healthcare system is much closer to yours than it is the civilian world's. I waited almost 6 months to have my surgery seeing as how I injured the knee on september 11. There was an anesthesiologist there - I received care at the Air Force Academy - but he didnt administer it. I assumed that they would have the best docs in the Air Force there, because with the Falcons playing collegiate sports injuries probably occur there more than most bases. This held true with my surgeon, as I am very comfortable that he did a good job on me.

This is the third strike against the military's universal health care system for me so far. Strike one was before deploying to Afghanistan I got a malaria medication that the strain of malaria in that part of the world was resistant to (chloroquine IIRC). Strike two was the fact that it took me almost 6 months to even get seen for surgery, and strike 3 was what happened during it. All of this to me is just more supporting evidence that I'm right about that type of care. I'm almost certain that if I went to the hospital downtown I wouldnt have experienced such things.

EDIT: Gall, you probably didnt get knocked out for it if you were in a similar situation to me. My top 2 wisdom teeth came in straight and there were no bottom ones, so because it was relatively simple they didnt need to put me under. If hers are impacted she most certainly will want to be knocked out
      I'm just a middle-aged, middle-eastern camel herdin' man
I got a 2 bedroom cave here in North Afghanistan

beat me to it. there's a whole host of things that could be wrong with your wisdom teeth, or they could come in just fine.

You can almost always opt out of the anesthesia for novacaine I think. I know I had the option and it was significantly cheaper, but all parties involved suggested against it.

I was given laughing gas, as you probably will too just to ease you into everything. The real anesthesia is the sodium penthanol (?) that they give you through an IV. By that time though, you won't really remember what's happening.

God help you if they are impacted, within your sinuses, or sideways. They'll have to cut them out (you won't want to be awake for that) and stitch your gums back up.

I've been awake to have teeth pulled before, and it's just weird to hear/feel the tooth crack even though it's painless. However, if it's in there good, they'll have to break it into pieces and remove it that way (or so they told me) and I imagine that's not something you want to be awake for, even if it doesn't hurt.

upside is they gave me some strong hydrocodones and i got to take a week off of work. downside was i accidently spit out a blood clot and got a dry socket... i would't recommend that unless you really like the taste of clove oil or want a twist-tie jabbed into your gums.

Why does pandagirl always talk about herself no matter how irrelevant it is in the thread? "I have to keep a 3.7 GPA look at me!!!" or "I'm having my wisdom teeth pulled and theyre all impacted!!!" when I said post some horror stories you may have had in the past, not how scared you are of a routine wisdom tooth removal in a couple weeks

I have to have all 4 of mine removed, they did 2 on one side (top and bottom) and neither of the 4 have actually come through the gum yet, they are just pushing against my other teeth. So what they told me they had to do was open up the gum and then pull the teeth out. Now I don't know in how far is called impacted or anything, they are near the surface, not really deep. But all I got was 2 shots, nothing else.

I spent several weeks getting bone shards removed from my mouth after getting my wisdom teeth removed. Apparently this is rare but happens to elderly people sometimes, which is fucked since I was 20. My dentist spent weeks pulling them out and grinding them down. He told my family that he's never seen it so bad in anyone, regardless of their age. I started trying to pull the bone shards out because they hurt so fucking much, even being on percs, t3s, and oxy didn't stop me from feeling pain (well maybe the oxy, but when I was on the rest it still sucked).

The majority of people I know have not had this problem, actually no one I know has had this problem.
