  • I'd like to rend a game this weekend, but I need your suggestions

I have a 360 and my room mate has a ps3, so I have both options available. I'm not too picky about genre, but I'll get specific here:

    FPS
    ------
I'd love a fps as good as Call of Duty 4 (I've already played 5, it's alright). I hear Far Cry 2 has alot of driving and I'm not interested in that in FPS games. I already have L4D and beaten the shit out of Gears 2

    RPG
    ------
I have Lost Odyssey, almost beaten it and I have Mass Effect already as well. I wouldn't mind trying out that new tales or persona game, but I don't know how good they are.

    Racing Sim
    --------------
How are the new Burnout/ Midnight Club /NFS games? I haven't played either series in awhile.

    Action
    --------
DMC4 was ok, but not as fun as DMC3 to me.

What I'm looking for is a game that was released in the past half year or so that I can throw some hours into this weekend- I've been working alot lately and plan to enjoy my break. I like stories in my games but don't really want anything cliche. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks ahead of time.
My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

I don't have much knowledge on FPS but you could try Gears Of War 2 (third person shooter).

And as RPG goes i'd seriously suggest getting Fallout 3, enormous map and very good playability, pretty much over a 100 hours worth of gaming. There's a good number of weapons, a range of levelling up abilities and perks and a good targeting system in the game which helps. I hear from my friends that The Elder Scrolls IV: Obvilion is a pretty good RPG which was made by the same people that produced Fallout 3, but i've never really played it myself.

There's also Fable 2 in the RPG department, but in my opinion that was hyped up too much and didn't do it for me after completing it, still worth having a look at though, there's definitely quite a bit to keep you interested.

Said in the OP I've played the shit out of GoW2, thanks for the other suggestions though

Kontrolz which version of Dead Space would you suggest, or do they play pretty much the same/you don't know?

I was thinking about maybe Fallout 3 but I've played Oblivion and it was kinda meh to me.It was alright, but I didn't feel compelled to play it like I have other RPG's

DTF I have never spent more than 5 hours in any Grand Theft Auto game, I get bored with them amazingly quickly

I'd imagine they play the same but I don't know. I played it for the 360 and I had no issues.

When you're considering playing fallout 3, don't. When you haven't played fallout 1 or 2, do ^^ (Fallout 2 would probably be a better starter now)

I played Fallout 2 like 6 years ago and was an impatient bitch at the time I played it. It started out too slow for me and I later sold the game online.

Oh to be a dumb teenager again~

fallout 3 is worth a glance. like they said, not as good as 1 or 2, but still not bad. gives you some of the FPS stuff with the RPG

                    worth a look

So the blockbuster by my apartment had Dead Space (as well as SF4) rented out on both systems, go figure. FEAR 2 was rented out on 360 but they had it on ps3, so I got that.

It's not bad, a pretty solid FPS (not too hard to do these days though)- but it's not scary.I'm in the hospital if anyone knows what I'm talking about and maybe I'm desensitized or just haven't gotten to the scary parts yet, but there has only been one part when I was surprised, the rest is kinda like " oh wow that looks like it hurt".

I'll play more later, it's ok I guess. I rented it for free (thx blockbuster rewards card), so it's definitely good for a free rental.

Btw, I'm retarded, Dead Space isn't a fps. It's third person shooter. You would think I would know this having played it for a few weeks and beating it.

fallout 3 is definitely worth playing (buying) if you like the idea of exploring. There is an easy 100 hours of gameplay in there if you visit all the areas and finish all the quests... but I got bored after I got the explorer perk at lvl 20... mostly because my character was too powerful and the enemies weren't challenging anymore.
