Future of Trenchwars

Hi guys and gals,

Just wondering if now might be the time to form a consensus as to who should buy out trenchwars (for big bucks, Priitk) in order to commercialize the game. You can always put a clause in the deal that says that everyone that currently plays trenchwars, and/or everyone who is active on this forum is granted life-long free membership. Why? Because what would trenchwars be without the people who started the game? You can leave an open list to be filled with names for 6 weeks to make aure we get everybody.

What company does everyone want to see commercialize trenchwars? I'm expecting we're going to see a lot of Microsofts but I choose Sony.

Of course, the ultimate choice is up to Priitk.

I just have a doomsday feeling that if we continue to let this slide, things may get out of hand.

you really have no idea how business deals work, do you?

put in a clause for life long free membership? are you kidding me? No one will accept that, especially if you want them to buy this game.

Priit is stuck up and cares jack shit about the game, so I doubt he'd care at all about advertising considering he makes more money working at skype.

Also, BDE would have a reason to sue Priit if he allowed it, since Continuum/Priit would be making profit off what legally belongs to BDE.

Something more interesting is a computer games company has registered the trademark for "SubSpace" it had expired...i suspect the trademark registration s invalid as the word is already in common use for another product, but aside from that. They have released one game: Biology Battle

I don't care for my cat, but I continue to support it. Face it, Continuum is more of an obligation than something he cares about.

All Priit has to do is dish out a small fraction of his personal income to support the servers, other than that, he hasn't updated the game, the server, the directory server, or the biller since 2003, it took trumendous effort to get him to make a minor update that took 5 seconds to make in 2007, and he hasn't responded to anyone including GhostShip since.

How long are people going to continue to be naive enough to actually believe that he cares? It's been 6 years already and zero progress except a broken client that can be hacked left, right and down center.

you must care to a degree or your would give it away or make more of an effort to rid yourself of the "obligation"...you could give your cat away or to a cat home...or drive to another neighbourhood and leave it there.....As long as he continues to support this game with $$$ he must have some interest in it. I mean if i dont want to support something i dont keep pissing money away :P

Yeah, but you're not morally bound to an entire game community that just keeps nagging you via emails all the time. (it would be morally wrong for me to stop feeding my cat and watch it slowly die*) Priit also has an obligation towards his friends GS and Dock>, who have both supported the game more than he has in recent times. Not to mention that the cost of his servers barely even make a dent in his annual revenue, so continually paying the bill once in a while isn't so much.

*I could give it to the neighbour, but what if Honda found out that I stole technology from Asimo to build my cat and gave it to someone else? I'm not only jeopardizing my neighbour, but also putting myself in a potential situation that could get me sued even further.

Also, another problem with that situation is that no one has ever asked Priit to release the source for Continuum or to pass on any of the duties to someone else. Hence the biggest flaw with the sscouncil, is that they too would rather power monger than see to it that this stuff is put in better hands. It's like the SPCA advocating for animal rights, but just take the glory of political influence rather than actually save any of the animals.

There's no way Priitk (legally) has the ability to license his product

The only thing that's going to kill this game is if Pure_Luck is spending our donation cash on lines of coke and trips to vegas (I highly doubt this), but if he's got a surplus of money he might be able to bank it and hope that Priit doesn't decide to stop paying for the servers. I know the money's for advertisement and shit, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to have enough cash in place to hold the game off for a month or two. I think we're fucked anyways if Priit bails, but allowing the game to stay afloat for 30-60 days might make a huge difference in creating new revenue streams.

Sony already looked at this game. They hired the creators of SS who made Infantry and Cosmic Rift. Note that those games no longer exist.
