Where's the rest of the responses? I'm curious if he answered my question, "how does he support the RIAA fining people for 150,000 for downloading a 99 cent song" we're protected under the 8th amendment from ridiculous fines. Also, I haven't downloaded a song since about 2004, but I still think it's retarded.
Also, I was one of the people that voted for that question being answered, I think legalizing marijuana and taxing it should be discussed a bit more seriously.1:Best> lol why is everyone mad that roiwerk got a big dick stickin out his underwear, it's really attractive :P
3:Best> lol someone is going to sig that
3:Best> see it coming

Im also a little pissed off that he just laughed it off and said no. The thing is that there is a potential to make an absolute shitload of money there while spending very little, and it'd only increase. I've never said outright legalization was a very solid idea, but it shouldnt be laughed at. Especially when your economy is an even bigger joke at the moment. Either way, let them laugh, I'd rather Canada do it first, make billions, fix our own economy, and piss off you guys for doing so - and hopefully making the americans even more pissed off by making it work safely and successfully. I've said it once, I'll say it until I die. Having alcohol and cigarettes legal while pot isn't is one of the greatest hypocracys out there. Both those legal drugs are more addictive and kills tons more people. Neither have the medical benefits marijuana does either. I hope I live to see the day where all the naive idiots become outnumbered by informed/experienced people who understand the drug, and look down on the people who treat it as if it's bloody well cocaine today.7:Knockers> how'd you do it Paul?

I agree with Knockers. He could of at least addressed the question in a more serious manner instead of making a face like, "those silly potheads!"
During this week, his own Secretary of State has come out and said that America's dependence on drugs (primarily Marijuana), is causing massive problems in Mexico. Earlier in the month a Harvard economist published an op-ed in the NY Times that claimed legalization of all drugs could lead to a prosperous US economy.
The demand for drugs is not going to diminish. Obama should know that much.
There is a degree of validity to legalizing drugs (or at least pot) and as long as politicians continue to scoff at the question like that, serious discussion about the issue will never take place.
I'm actually kind of embarrassed by his response. He should have at least taken the time to give his reasoning, rather than making a joke so that the room could laugh about "stoners."Originally posted by ToneWomen who smoke cigarettes are sexy, not repulsive. Fact is, Obama is just a puppet who will take the fall for the white men if things dont go as planned. so even after admitting he had tried it hes gonna treat the situation as a joke when the american dollar and economy are about to become a joke as well. But we'll see, if it becomes state law first, then wat?3:disown> some dude just honked at me

Yeah because making billions of dollars on weed would work, obviously people would still go to their drug dealers most of the time to avoid paying taxes on the weed and because unless it was grown in massive quantities it would still be cheaper to buy from countries who grow weed in mass, and people who grow weed illegally within the country. It is stupid to suggest that legalizing drugs would help with the economy at all. And of course he isn't going to legalize it, but he had all you stupid fucking stoners thinking he would because he was so youthful and cool huh. Classic.Rabble Rabble Rabble

Umm the thing is that tobacco and alcohol haven't needed a black market in well forever besides the brief period of prohibition in America. However ever since Marijuana was deemed illegal it has been a forbidden substance that people have had to obtain through illegal sources, and many people have made friends with their drug dealers to get better deals, bigger amounts of weed, and better weed. Just because weed gets legalized doesn't mean that years upon years of getting weed through a dealer instead of a store would change over night. If I did drugs still and weed were legal, lets say I went to the store and a quarter ounce was 35 dollars for some regular, and an 1/8th of an ounce of dro was around 40, I would obviously just call up my friend and still buy from him.
Also who says that the person who is in jail for smoking or selling weed is going to be good for the economy in the first place, chances are the person is a useless piece of shit who would just live on my tax dollars from welfare more than being released from jail and him going out to find a real job.Rabble Rabble Rabble

Edit: To be clear I am not talking about decriminalization. Weed is mostly decriminalized here and all the problems that come with prohibition remain. The problem with weed will only go away once it is fully legal to buy, sell, grow and consume it.Last edited by Kolar; 03-30-2009, 06:42 AM.

Wark, do you know how stupid you legal system is for even having a single person in jail for smoking a joint in ANY state. Your tax dollars are paying for someone to be completely useless, when before he was arrested for that one fucking joint, I'm sure he had a job to pay for his pot. Saying that he'd be useless anyways is a huge over-generalization and is exactly the naive I was talking about. As for thinking Obama would legalize, never in the world did I even consider the idea, so take your 'classic' and shove it. I just said he's a fool for laughing at it and not at least attempting some sort of actual discussion or REAL answer to the question. As for dealers, do you know how fucking annoying it is to actually reach them often enough? There's no steady hours, regulation, nothing to keep them from deciding to say sure I'll meet you in half and hour, and taking 4. If you could buy marijuana in a store like ciggarettes or alcohol, it would be taken advantage of heavily. Again, I'm not saying it would outright work, but someone has to try it sometime, and it would without a doubt make tons of money.
edit - not all stoners are Xog, there are many different types of people who smoke marijuana. From politicians, corner store owners, fucking anyone thats what makes it such a community. It's entirely universal, and it doesn't matter who you are or what you do, you can smoke it. Just like a pack of smokes or a beer. They're the same thing, marijuana is just safer and got a bad reputation at the wrong time in history so now it's seen as one of the 'evil' or hard drugs. It's complete bullshit, and I wish I could get all these people high to open their minds (which are puckered up like a homophobes buttcheeks in a gay strip clubs men's bathroom) and explain the actual realities of the drug to them.7:Knockers> how'd you do it Paul?
