This is a article about a soccer coach who sent an extremely sarcastic email out to parents before the season started. I personally found it extremely humorous and would probably let this guy caoch my kids.


Here is some of the smart ass things he was saying

• The kids will run, they will fall, get bumps, bruises and even bleed a little. Big deal, it’s good for them (but I do hope the other team is the one bleeding).
• And speaking of meat, I expect that the ladies be put on a diet of fish, undercooked red meat and lots of veggies. No junk food. Protein shakes are encouraged, and while blood doping and HGH use is frowned upon, there is no testing policy. And at the risk of stating the obvious, blue slushies are for winners.
• But it is imperative that we all fight the good fight, get involved now and resist the urge to become sweat-xedo-wearing yuppies who sit on the sidelines in their LL Bean chairs sipping mocha-latte-half-caf-chinos while discussing reality TV and home decorating with other feeble-minded folks. I

The email was funny but he's a dumbass for thinking that it would be funny for 6-year old kids.

I don't think we're seeing the whole picture here. I'd like to hear what they discussed during their meeting. I'm glad his heart is with the kids though

If this was for a rec league, i can completely see why they canned his ass. You don't need to instill competativeness at that age. Odds are this guy isn't as innocent as he'd like to portray himself. He probably does heckle other teams or referees, and that's bad sportsmanship. I just feel it's a lot less likely that this guy is all talk with his sarcasm than it is that he's actually an ass sometimes.

If it was a club league, then it's understandable. I might not agree with it, but the goals of the league are much different.

According to one of the comments after the story, supposedly left by another volunteer coach, the rules of the league specifically forbid you (as a coach) to talk to referees or players during live action. That's a horrible restriction on coaches, but it's there to sacrafice some competition for a recreational atmosphere. It's there to keep coaches from berating their players and humiliated them (and apparently referees as well). 12 yr old referees are horrible... so why would you even begin to heckle them? If they blew a call, I'd let them know about it, but not by yelling at them in front of my team of 8 yr olds. You could tell them after the game, or simply walk up to them instead.


He might have been a good guy, but after reading some the comments and trying to used past experiences, he's probably an overbearing asshole to a select few people on the soccer field, and unfortunately, that's unacceptable in a rec leage for elementary school kids. There are plenty of parents who would defend an asshole coach, and plenty of players too. That doesn't mean he's a good coach.
