Here's an example of one of the worst April Fool's pranks, a halftime act in the Orlando Magic / Toronto Raptors game:
In an April Fool's joke that left everyone but the contestant laughing, the Magic made a fan think he was shooting a half-court shot for $100,000 at halftime. The fan was blindfolded, and the crowd was told beforehand to cheer as if he made the shot. The young contestant, named Dan, missed badly but believed he won and danced around the court in a frenzy. Before being told it was a joke and showed the replay he said, "I just got laid off at work." He was given a 100 Grand Bar of candy instead but was not laughing. -From TSN.ca

Ouch... really, give the dude some cash. If everyone one of the players from either team pitched a grand he'd be fine. Pricks.

the shroomery forums had an epic april fools joke going

it started off with this guy making a thread. here's his post

Sorry but I had to get your attention, read on:

              Capatalistic Nomad (a moderator) said:
So i was thinking today, While we do make a significant amount of cash by e-baying the items we scam with puppets from the market place, we definitely have room for expansion.

As it stands, we are using established puppets (with fake trade ratings from our other puppets and inside members) to scam items up for sale and trade from our users. And the profit through e-baying them, as well as selling them through out the mod community at a discount has raised us a significant amount of capital.

However, I really think that we could expand this operation. Instead of posing as the fake buyer of these items, i think that It would be much more profitable to pose as the seller of said item, and to directly get cash through the mail (cashiers checks and straight cash).

adopting this strategy would definitely cut out the relative risk of re-selling the stolen items, as well as giving us another unique option. As we screen, conditionally authorize, and edit the pm's of users involved in trades we might actually be able to sell the same item to several different users, netting a much larger profit.

              Just a thought.

if you need to verify this follow this link and hit refresh until you can read it. Hurry before Ythan fixes the bug.

and had everyone going through the moderator's section due to this refresh "glitch" (fake, they set it up themselves) and reading "old posts" about how the mods have been scamming them.

people were seriously considering to quit. it went on for about 5 pages and a little before midnight before they told everyone it was a joke.

Later reports say the guy was an actor and the prank was on the audience. Even if that's the case, I don't think it worked that well.

And it's not like sports arenas are known for creativity when it comes to providing entertainment during games.

I know you're not suggesting that watching a man in a giant bunny costume sprint down the court, jump on 3 successive trampoleans, do a mid-air backflip, AND dunk a basketball isn't creative? You got some high standards :P
