actually, i'd hope that the previous two wars in Iraq and Afganistan would have taught us something: you can't fight a ground war against guerilla fighters and hope to succeed. that's pretty much what they are, guerillas, they attack and run and hide in some pissant little country that can't really do anything about it or doesn't want to. the sad fact is all we can really do is hope that whatever country they're based in takes proactive steps to prevent it. Or, we can keep giving up freedoms to try to protect ourselves. I'd hope that diplomacy would be a little more effective, and that we wouldn't strain ourselves any more than we had to just to "get back at them." If it's a couple airstrikes, a few secretive missions, Ok. if it's an all-out war against a country (when it was terrorists who attacked) then it's not OK. Also, I highly doubt they're capable of hitting a high value target in washington.
