alright so in the last few months i've seen those commercials on the air every so often. the ones put out both by the cbc/ctv people and then the other ones put out by shaw and the other digital cable companies. the ones saying how it's putting cbc/ctv in jeopardy by cutting it's programming or whatever.

anyway, i'm sure you guys know what i'm talking about and was hoping you could shed some light on to this for me. i was dicking around some news sites just now and came across a couple articles. i think it's great that they're forcing global and other television stations to get a 1:1 ratio going for american:canadian programming as i've often thought that canadian programming is lacking as a whole. i can probably count the 'good' canadian tv programs on one hand (corner gas, trailer park boys, kenny vs spenny, and i'm done). however, in the articles i've read there's clearly a lot of panic going on with the canadian broadcasters for obvious reason; they're kind of pulling the rug right out from underneath them.

what do you guys think? i'm all for giving canadians more of a chance to get some good original programming going but at the same time if we take out too much of the american tv too fast then people will stop watching and the broadcasters will likely go under, no? i'm not sure, i just know if they expect me to watch a shitty house rip-off like the mentalist then fuck them.

    seriously that shit was terrible.

the mentalist is showing in the US too :\ And I said the exact same, it's a house rip off except it's a lot worse - i mean come on the plot was bad but the acting was even worse, come on what were they thinking?

Also, I haven't heard anything about this canadian:american combination of tv broadcasting before but it sounds interesting. I think it would be quite a significant change if canadians and americans were to incorporate eachother's shows on a 1:1 ratio like you mentioned (i dont think i understand correctly?). So no, I don't think it'd be too bad. I mean obviously, the shows that aren't getting good ratings in both canada and america are going to be kicked off, meaning better rated shows will be played right? I don't think I get this completely.. I haven't read any articles on it.

also post pilot ideas for canadian television shows

how about a goalie rental service for recreational hockey teams who are short a goaltender. then the goalie that the show is based on will own a bar. also there are some other goalies.

xog maybe i didn't explain myself properly here's a link

        http://www.globaltv.com/globaltv/nat...tml?id=1597063

for those of you who aren't from canada we mostly show american programming on all of our canadian channels. i don't think there's anyway that situation would ever be reversed and american broadcasters would show canadian programming during primetime.

wow i read your post completely wrong... u meant removing the american shows from canada.. you're right on that one. But hey, maybe there's some good new shows being made in canada that are waiting to be aired? If they remove more american shows from their networks, that means there's more opportunity for more canadian shows. Perhaps you'll be surprised and find a few new ones you like?

            here's another pilot idea

recently reformed homosexual (loves chicks now and their titties) posts on forums, except they are all bad posts and a milk man from connecticut (named paul oakenheart) addresses this frequently.

            also he's a goalie.

CTV is just greedy. All of their "local news stations" are absolute bullshit and don't carry anything about local events or news, they just rehash whatever the national sources provide.

I don't understand everything about what they are asking but it seems like they want to charge satellite and cable companies to carry their signal as specialty channels do. From my perspective it's a dying market and they're trying to force the CCRT to put them on welfare at the consumers expense. Cable and satilite companies like Rogers/Shaw (while having their own massive failings themselves) already give prority to Canadian conent/channels ensuring a lower count in the channel numbering which gives their advertisement more reach. If they can't turn a profit to fund their network or news services then that's that. Don't force the consumer to pay more because you think your shit is worth it, pull your signal if you aren't getting what you think it's worth.
