Osmium is the densest metal, and ultimately greater than iron, when metal-aerogel nanocomposites are built from it. Add some atmospheric plasma wave propulsion systems, and a few motherboards designed with osmium transistors.

Iron is only useful in stellar nucleosynthesis, planet cores, and hemoglobin. While indeed it is the seed for all of the better more useful transition metals, Osmium and Iridium win the prize for densest and most elite for the future we are actually in already.
People are taking nano-composite osmium hydrosol gels and increasing nucleic acid mobility. They dope both sides and turn the DNA into a Tesla Coil, increasing electron transference up to 10,000 times.Last edited by disorder; 07-07-2009, 01:39 PM.The effects that are planned to be studied on the kinetic level are: Laminar and turbulent flow; the transition between both; thermodynamics and self-organisation of complex plasma flows; solitons and shocks; interfaces and plasma instabilities; agglomeration and disagglomeration. For low-frequency excitation and confining particles modulated RF coils and high-voltage supplies are foreseen.

You're an idiot for caring whatsoever about the popularity of a metal. Iron is mainstream because it's abundant. Osmium costs $3,000 an ounce, but it's conductive properties make it the most worthwhile. The effects that are planned to be studied on the kinetic level are: Laminar and turbulent flow; the transition between both; thermodynamics and self-organisation of complex plasma flows; solitons and shocks; interfaces and plasma instabilities; agglomeration and disagglomeration.
