I feel the state should have the right to ban smoking in a closed-in public place, such as a mall. It is a health hazard, and just like saying it is illegal for people to run around the mall and punch you in the face, i think they can say it's illegal to smoke in a public place, cuz they both hurt you. 2nd hand smoke is horrible for people, and it's not fair for the non-smokers to have to inhale it when they want to shop. It's not too fucking hard to walk outside for 5 minutes to suck down ur ciggy, but it is hard to avoid a cloud of smoke near the food court or your favorite shop. I think Parks and what not should not be regulated, unless right near a school zone.
BTW I am a smoker in New York State, currently on the patch and gum tho.
As far as that clip goes, and the original topic, I think people got scared and acted on emotions and not common sense. I dunno the specific rules on bashing the president, but i think most of those items were okay, yet pushing the limit. I do not remember any Anti-GW bumperstickers that said "IMPEACH GW" I do remember "GW MUST GO," and i think thats a big difference. Also any bumper sticker talking about "Alqueda's favorite day 9/11...." , ok you just threw all your rights out the window as soon as you said that stupid shit, i don't care if ur dragged out of ur mall and beaten with a dead cat at that point, that shit pisses me off. That kind of shit should not be allowed, it ain't funny that I lost an uncle on 9/11 and if there were some sort of airbourne-gas on board i'd lose half my family in that attack.
If they had chosen their words better, i think they would have had a better argument, but some of those bumper stickers were really tasteless, fuck `em. I believe in free speech, but some things you just can't say... i'm sorry.
P.S.
Fuck Republicans/Conservatives and their Socialistic-Phobias. Eat shit and die slow you rich insensitive bastards.
P.S.S
Jerome -"if soviet russia circa 1965 and the united states circa 2009 were competitive, their economy and general standard of living would kick our ass."
Their economy is rich with oil, and the cities are some of the most beautiful cities and rich cities of the world, like Moscow, but you go 30 miles out of the city and their people are starving and die'n like forgotten bastard-step-children.... here's a quote: 1950s-75s
"The aggregate Soviet growth figures also did not reveal either the generally poor quality of Soviet goods and services that resulted from the state monopoly over production or the lack of priority given the consumer"... also the birth rate was declining, and that shit is a big indicator.

hayek argues that the inevitable result of any socialist society is fascism. after your five-year plans and mini-socialist ventures fail, you have no choice but to ratchet up the enforcement - the idea that maybe government intervention causes problems is unthinkable, and so they blame what freedom the people have left as the culprit.
he argued democracies were especially vulnerable - because "middle of the road" policies just fucking suck - hence america's mixed-market 'economy'. the entire system is so convoluted (everyone gets their say... and a law or two) that even monolithic socialist systems can perform more efficiently.

well here in south florida, I have a pretty good connect. and I only buy high quality weed (which you will find in medical marijuana facilities) so I usually get $25/50 for a half-eighth/eighth
but if I wanted really good shit (like it's got a name or whatever) then $30/60
That's not to mention that I have to drive 30-60 minutes out of my way to get it, and the weed usually lasts me 1-2 weeks. Plus I can't go and get it whenever I want. I have to usually wait till my dealer is available... I don't know if the prices are better at a legalized, taxed medical mariajuana facility that only sells good shit thats safe and you can trust then I would rather get it from there.

hmm Well I don't know the prices for medical stuff and it has been a long time since I actually smoked but.
In Texas..
Schwag = 30-50 an oz depending on how good it is.
Kb/Christmas Bud = 60-80 an oz depending on how good it is.
Hydro = Around 20 for a gram of some regular dro, maybe up to around 30 for some of the better stuff such as Shore line.

can someone whose getting any weed from a medical marijuana facility in one of the 11 states that has legalized medical marijuana and is planning to follow the tax set up by California or is already doing so now (someone from Cali especially)
please tell us how much you are paying for your weed

The government can't sell weed anyways because governments weed would be taxed, which means you would end up spending more going to the gas station and buying a pack of joints than you would just going to your dealer. So for the government to make money on weed it would still have to make marijuana sold without paying taxes on it illegal, sorta like buying things at a duty free store at the airport, you still have to pay taxes on it when you get back to the country you live in. So the government would have to be too hypocritical for even the government to stomach if it wanted to legalize marijuana and profit from it. Not to mention that wouldn't be nearly enough to fix the economy over there, maybe if you allowed drilling off the coast and allowed refineries etc to build a few plants in the lower section of the state it would help not only to produce literally thousands of jobs but bring in some wanted money into your economy. Of course California would rather be "green" then worry about its economy so.

Why is marijuana against the law? Isn't that like saying Nature is illegal? Does it sound wrong that their's a law against NATURE?

I think what he was trying to get at was the potential for the legalization and taxation of marijuana to help stabalize the economy and help bring california out of its debt. It would help but its not going to be enough.

Marijuana doesn't have anything to do with it, would rather people smoked weed than went to a doctor to get on anti-depressants, those seriously fuck up your life. It isn't natural to be happy all the time, something SERIOUSLY wrong with the amount of
1. kids taking drugs for ADHD or ADD
2. adults taking drugs for being depressed.
