I agree with TK. Slash is undeniably one badass guitar player, even if you think GNR sucks.
As for my favorite solo of all time, it has to be that song whose name i cant remember by that obscure band whose name i forgot but heard on the radio. That tune rocked.
Originally posted by Dabram i don't have a favourite solo. depends on in what mood i am, how long i haven't heard it etc. there are too many good solos out there to pick one. :S
Jimmy Paige / Led Zeppelin - Live version of Stairway to Heaven -> real sweet." Most songs he has a nice solo in it, not all placed aswell as the other.
Jimi Hendrix - Almost all his songs have great solos. I like Voodoo Child best I think.
Stevie Ray Vaughan - He owns. -_-
Gary Moore - He owns aswell. -_-
Pink Floyd - Shine on you crazy Diamond (Part 1), Time, Hey you-> these songs have really nice guitare solos. Pink Floyd always has these nice solos with which u can really dream away with. And usually placed really well.
Joe Satriani - Great guitare player, some real sweet solos aswell. Can't think of a song right now. -_-
Oyeh, I almost forgot a classic, Free bird from Lynyrd Skynyrd, nice live version.
A song with just a solo is mostly not one of my favourite solos. It needs to be well placed like with Joe Satriani and Pink Floyd, then it doesn't even need to be such a "difficult" solo but just sweet. Well i dunno which are more or less difficult since dun play any instrument. But ok, I mean those that really add something to the song. Not those that are just a very good solo but completly loose from the rest of the song. =P -_-
That's of course still just for me, heh. But it's how I feel/hear it and how I translate it inside my head. (or something.)
