What's a good phone?

i have a blackberry pearl and i like it for txting but the roller ball always breaks, other than that i'm pretty satisfied with it. my gf has the blackberry storm and i hate it

It's looking like a Motorola Droid right now. Anyone have any good reasons why I shouldn't get that?

PS: I don't care about camera shit at all.

The IPhone is pretty cool, enough cool features and applications to work with, but the camera is crappy. So yeah maybe the Droid is something to look at.

That's cool...just an audio head here. I obviously hate mp3's. The Alpine I put in my wifes car has the IPod hookup, but also accepts the mini stereo jack as an Aux if I play something from another source, as well as it has a USB input for a thumb drive. I have also seen the radio's that have SD card inputs as well. I am thinking that CD's will be gone in the next 5 years for car radio's.

Yeah, I think now there is no format that will prevail, they all have uses. cd's might ONLY survive in car audio - similar to why vinyl still is a major component in hi-fi, it's partly a nostalgia thing. sometimes I suffer from "ipod freeze" (so much music.. I don't know what to hear!) and popping in an old mixtape (or mixcd whatev) is nice. (The fact that a cd can't hold much makes it the perfect format for a mixtape.)

My stereo also reads mp3/data cd's (and recognizes Ogg files!), and a data cd is great for sticking a few entire albums on. I have discographies and genres, very space-saving.

My dad turned me on to the idea after seeing a review in Stereophile for a DAC. I know mp3's are the audiophile's bane, but times are changing

A good DAC like the Wadia can only do so much if your source is still a lossy format. If you're ripping music in ALAC or I guess V0 mp3's (minimum), you should be able to benefit from it.

I finally took some sort of plunge into hi-fi after doing the whole portable thing (with iems and what not. I realized lugging an amp with my mp3 player is not worth it), and finally bought a decent pair of speakers, DAC, and amp. I am enjoying it so far. One day when I have enough money and time I'll start investing in vinyl.

As for phones (back on topic hurray), the Droid seems very interesting to me. I think there is another phone out there, the HTC Droid Eris that is one of the cheaper Andriod-powered phones out there that you can buy (I think you can also upgrade the firmwire to the same one that's on the Motorola Droid). Once the apps start up, it should be a pretty good phone to have.
