China's one-child policy was implemented in 1979. In 1980 China's population was 996 million. In 2006 the population was 1314 million, an increase of 318 million persons. This increase is more than the present population of the USA. So just having a policy does not mean that it will work. China is a perfect example of that.
hey kthx i read an opinion article in a San Francisco newspaper written by a local there defending homosexuality... it took me by suprise, I had no idea that you and the rest of everyone else in America were all staunch advocates of gay rights.
one of china's most sustainable policies is the one where they clear entire areas of land that they then build entire cities on... cities that are entirely unpopulated and only serve to make china's growth rate look good on paper. we need these people in charge of the world, they could make poverty dissappear completely, probably by defining "poverty" as "the condition in which people have six legs and a penis for a nose".
i mean, china may be a huge polluter, but they lead the globe in green initiatives, so it's like they don't pollute at all! i can't help but agree with the author of the article: we would all be best served with china as our overlords.
The solution is obvious, we put all these extra people on a new planet I mean what else is the moon and mars for?
But if we don't do that nature has its own way of dealing with excess population...generally it involves us all killing each other untill theres a alot less people.
