  • Scurvy Update

For those (select few) who have maintained interest in my creative development over the past few years, I've just updated my blog for the first time in quite a while. It still mainly studies from life classes and sketchbooks, but now that I'm a senior I'm focusing more on a professional portfolio, which will include loose oil painting caricatures of famous comedic duos (Andy Kaufman/Tony Clifton, Brett McKenzie/Jemaine Clement, Penn & Teller, Julian Barret/Noel Fielding, Stella, David Cross/Bob Odenkirk, etc..), A series of small spot illustrations geared toward New Yorkeresque Marginal comics, and satirical fantasy/sci fi art in oil.

Outside of school I've also been doing caricatures and portraits on commission, and Caricatures at minor events (post prom parties, carnivals, etc) along with some extremely basic graphic design work for a few local business, and two murals to date.

I'm still doing Tshirts as a hobby, but seeing as how I don't currently have access to any sort of screen printing materials, I've been doing them all by hand, which has not turned out to be very lucrative.

Anyways, I know that some of you have expressed interested in my progress as a student, and seeing as how I'll soon be taking the plunge into the professional world, here ya go:

edit: the photo quality on a lot of these images is pretty poor, so forgive me

If I wasn't a broke mother fucker, I would love to buy one of your works. If you ever make it out to LA and have a art show or something, please bump this thread. I love portraiture and the fact that you're doing comedic icons is only making it that much better.

      Keep up the good work.

Very cool to see Tony Clifton, Man on the moon is one of my favorite movies.

            these are really good

that sketch of the t-rex with boxing gloves puts an end to years of day dreaming ('oh so THATS how it would look like' )

idea for your next one?: kangaroo with boxing gloves rubbing heads during a boxing match with a real boxer?

                Thanks for the support.

I am available for commissions; i'm glad the oils are popular. I've actually done more of the comedian caricatures and each one is progressing stylistically, so I'll post those soon.

                    How much for a 80cm x 100cm 1 person portrait?
And how much for same size with 2 people?

is 80x100 cm a standard size?

The last commission i did was colored pencil, about 8x10 inches, and i charged $80.

An oil that large with a single figure would probably be about $250, and two figures would be around $300

The warthog is actually in a show where the pieces typically go for around $1200-1500, but since it didn't place, i'd probably sell something like that for around $500....mainly because its one of my personal favorites.

Writing it out like this make the prices sound pretty high, but its probably a little on the low end of what you would typically be charged.

i could sell a professional grade print, however, of any piece for under $50
