Yes, that's right, I'm covering yet another auto show. I'm actually writing this from the media center at the Geneva Palexpo. It's 6:30 pm now, I've been up since 5:30 am and working since 7:30 am. I'm dog tired but it's been a pretty good show so far.

TK...what's your opinion on the new Audi they are introducing that will be competition for the mini cooper?

The pic I saw was from the show you are at, but didn't show the entire car and just the front end...was hard to see if it is even in the same category/class as the mini cooper.

Not that I am interested in this car for purchase, but I do like to see who is coming out with what style and competition in the industry.

I'll be going back tomorrow to add more pictures of the Audi A1. I was in a rush to get to Ferrari and Hyundai and the crowd at Audi was too big to get a good clear shot.

I think it'll sell pretty well, given Audi's lineage. It's not expected in North America however, which my editor thinks is a mistake.

Edit: The back is moving dangerously close towards an Audi though.

How about more of the Porsche 918 Spyder? Jesus Christ, this thing is like sex on wheels:

Acceleration: 0-60mph in 3.2 seconds
Top Speed: 198 mph
Mileage: 78-90 mpg (confirm?)
Gas Engine: V8 ~500 horsepower
Electric Engines: ~218 horsepower equivalent

All with a body style that looks like this:




Incredible. The last time Porsche unveiled a concept (the Boxter back in the 90s) they mass manufactured it. This thing could be a serious Audi R8 and Tesla Roadster killer. I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

how the fuck is that even possible? does it use both electric and gas at the same time? :O pardon my stupidity but I never really got into any details about hybrid cars or how they run

the MPG is a bit of a misnomer, Porsche states 94MPG when driven conservatively in hybrid mode.

READ:

IF DRIVEN AT 30MPH or LESS.

Drive it like its meant to be driven, and the MPG falls to like 10

The question is always in how far a concept car is translated to the eventual production car.

For instance the s60 concept had a fully handmade crystal centre stack, you won't see that in any production volvo any time soon, if ever.
