There are lots of things to be proud of America for even if you aren't American. It used to stand for liberty, to many people it still does, but the last 50 years of our foreign diplomacy has just sucked so much that Tagmor forgot what there is to be patriotic about.

In other words, being born on these lands is nothing to be proud of because you didn't accomplish a damn thing. If you were born in another country and went through their public school indoctrination process, you'd be prone to their nationalism.

So, specific geographical location has nothing to do with one's pride. So, being proud of your specific geographical location is just nonsense.

4th of July relates to beautiful women in bikinis, BBQ, fireworks, and alcohol (even on Sunday) -- which are all fun to be around and experience. But, it's not limited to America.
I mean, are you saying you're proud that you can gorge yourself with hotdogs and alcohol? Because, needless to say, taking pleasure in food and getting drunk is something everyone can experience anywhere in the world. You don't go and say, "I'm proud to be at this baseball game because I can get hotdogs and beer." Or, "I'm proud to be an Astros fan because I get hotdogs and beer."

So, why is that association constantly being made here as if it's limited to this country alone? And why is everyone getting all pissed off because I'm objectively questioning you for making such associations?
(And before anyone says something, don't be so daft to think I'm questioning why you like women.)
It's not as if you go to another country and wave that particular nation's flag that women, booze, bbq, and fireworks all of a sudden becomes unavailable to you. Such things are available in every country, even 3rd world countries. There might be an issue of convenience, but not when you compare like to like.

the american revolution was a brilliant experiment. it was a first. it was the first time that the state was rejected as an eternal leviathan and made way for the brilliant thinkers who could, for the first time, envision society and the state as two different things and make a case for the individual's ultimate sovereignty. they may have ultimately designed a flawed system, but it was a valiant attempt and the one thing they did preserve is the streak of individuality and love of liberty that still has an impact today.
you shouldn't tell someone from the South that being proud of one's geographic location is nonsense. well really, you shouldn't tell anyone that, because it is nonsense. being proud of some abstract notion like our federal government is nonsense, but being proud of your culture, your city, your state - it's all part of being human. it's what makes your magic anarcho-capitalist society work.

July 4th and Michael Steele, RNC Leader and probably one of the biggest overpaid idiots abusing the powers he has with the RNC, while at the same time pushing his new book so he can make millions more while he should be concentrating on his actual job.
Just another reason why if you are a registered Democrat or Republican, then basically you are an idiot for following along party lines and taking the bullshit spewed as if it is the gospel from either party.
I am so glad to be an Independent in the US and not swayed or hypnotized to vote only in favor of what a specific political party TELLS everyone to vote for. The USA...a country of mindless lemming idiots that couldn't vote their own mind if it came down to deciding what to eat for breakfast. Happy 4th to a nation made up of polarized idiots!
Arizona Sen. John McCain is the latest Republican to criticize National Republican Committee Chairman Michael Steele's comments about President Barack Obama and the war in Afghanistan.Odd that this idiot Michael Steele was in favor of the war only 3 years ago? Was even quoted saying that "Afghanistan is the battle to end terrorism and an effort to eliminate the Taliban and Al Qaeda", as he lambasted the Dem's for wanting to pull out and set a deadline. Does this guy really represent the GOP?
Steele says that the conflict is not winnable and a war of Obama’s choosing; but the New York Times reported he “misstated the history of the conflict, which President George W. Bush started nine years ago in response to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.”
Senator Lindsey Graham did make a nice comment though:Happy Birthday USA. You are being run by criminals and bullshit political parties with their own personal agenda to "Make only themselves rich". Doesn't matter what party you "blindly" follow
"the good news is Michael Steele is backtracking so fast he's going to be in Kabul fighting here pretty soon."
I had a pleasant holiday though...anyone else?
