  • Car prices in different countries

I was randomly looking at cars and read stuff about how expensive cars were in Norway. So I set out to compare a little. The findings were very interesting...
These prices according to BMW and Toyota official sites "price on road":

    BMW M3 coupé 420 HP
    USA 58,400 $
    UK 53,275 £ = 83,018 $
    Germany 68,350 € = 88,711 $
    Sweden 667,000 SEK = 91,233 $
    Australia 171,550 AUD = 153,074 $
    Finland 118,039 € = 153,202 $
    Norway 1,469,000 NOK = 238,423 $
    Denmark 1,435,800 DKK = 250,091 $

    Toyota Prius ("basic")
    USA 23,800 $
    UK 19,855 £ = 30,940 $
    Germany 25,450 € = 33,031 $
    Sweden 276,000 SEK = 37,751 $
    Finland 31,621 € = 41,040 $
    Norway 272,600 NOK = 44,243 $
    Denmark 385,041 DKK = 67,067 $

    Toyota Prius "premium model"
    USA 28,070 $
    Denmark 568447 DKK = 99013 $

Norway, Denmark and Finland have some kind of HP or emission based tax on cars. Denmark has ridicilous tax on "accessories". The theory why cars are "cheap" in Sweden is because we have Volvo and Saab.

EDIT haha just noticed how well this thread meshes with my signature.

Finland has "temporary" car tax, that was implemented 51 years ago, and was supposed to be TEMPORARY... (cant kill the governments biggest cash cow though)

Sweden doesn't have this riduculous shit, hence cheaper cars...

Oddly enough, get rid of our insane cartax, and we have the some of the cheapest cars in Europe, so, all you diplomats out there, come buy cars from us

    i.e. BMW M3 = €72,170,00 + Cartax of 46,849,09, woo 40.3% tax.

Australia has a 'Luxury Car Tax', which in effect is actually a 'foriegn car tax'. All those faggots that want to drive BMW's or SAABS have to pay out the ass.

Yeah foreign car taxes in China are out of control also. A M3 in China is somewhere north of $185k. My uncle bought an Audi A6 (audis are popular over there) for around $55k (355000 rmb), since China actually manufactures audis so they're taxed differently.
