trust me, i would love to do just that. the problem is, it's too widespread. so many people are doing it that if we tried to enforce a rule on it now, we'd end up banning a good dozen people or more. i wasn't in place as a mod in time to nip it in the bud as we were able to do with twitter talk.

Viop speak has kinda got old now although, it is funny at inappropriate times.

the biggest problem with violish is that it's spread to too many people, and a lot of the people trying to use it in more recent months don't even do it properly. when violish was more contained and it was sort of an inside joke type deal, it was okay. now it's old, worn out and busted.

tell you what though, i'll let the overall forum community speak their mind on this one. look for a poll in the forum staff subforum.

i'm pretty sure i've been playing the devil's advocate since chilbirth, all i do is advocate for the devil. but now you're on the other side of the law, sherriff. you're gonna notice it now. now, i've perused through my recent posts to see where i've "gone all anarchy", and i really don't find cause for this statement other than to set ph up for this whole anti-jerome gimmick which i find more annoying than viop (can i request a poll? seriously ph my name ain't a dick)

i don't really consider this violish stuff annoying, it's easy to ignore. it's the internet. the only reason people do it is to troll, and when you ban that stuff you just feed the trolls. i understand that you want to change the forums and move them in a positive direction, but rome wasn't built in a day. you guys don't have to come in and make big changes for changes' sake. do i think you should ban specific mannerisms, gimmicks or grammar? no. do i think you should ban annoying people who take it over the top? absolutely, that's the way twforums has always been run and it's the way that works out for the best while still preserving the fun for the rest of us.

apparently this view is a 'devil's advocate' view, but i thought in order to be contrarian, you had to be... well, contrarian. according to the results of the poll, my opinion is that of the majority.

since my views are apparently self-important progressive libertarian douchebaggery, i might as well try to explain my views in terms of this douchebaggery: i don't think you should throw up monolithic sets of rules concerning any sort of behavior, i've explained this many times over the years especially in regards to the racism policy which has been nothing but trouble. i believe that you should be an active moderator who can view any post within its context and decide on its appropriateness, or go even further as you have and leave some decisions up to the forum members themselves. but the thing about that sort of system of doing things is, you are going to have differences of opinion and devil's advocates.

in the end i know you have many ideas on how to make the forums better, but i'm gonna go ahead and repeat what i have been saying since 2004.
