Drugs are not some mystical substance that will guide you to enlightenment.
Drugs wont improve your social life.
Drug users are not members of some super cool secret club.
Drugs do not make you a rebel.
Drugs are not an alternative to life.
Drugs will have a detrimental effect on your brain function.
Drugs will have a detrimental effect on your physical health.
Drugs will have a detrimental effect on your social standing.
Drugs will have a detrimental effect on your ability to have a fulfilling life.
If you are aware of these truths then it is quite easy to use drugs in a responsible manner. But whenever you use them, be aware that you are in effect trading a little of your health/wellbeing for the drug experience.
Problems arise when users actually think the drugs are good for them.Last edited by TagMor; 12-12-2010, 04:11 AM.sigpic

Sorry dude, didn't mean to be so pretentious... It just pisses me off how a lot of the drug scene has cultivated these perceptions that using drugs is somehow sophisticated or evolved.
I mean you don't see alcoholics claiming that getting drunk gets them closer to "self realization" or "spiritual attainment".. etc, etc.sigpic

some people are just better when they are fucked up. it's not an inherent quality of the intoxicant itself, but rather the result of the interactions between intoxicant and intoxicant-ee

i can't say i've ever run into anything suggesting that, but i would definitely agree with your initial point about "religious experiences" having roots in the ingestion of some form of drug or another. maybe 2% of people who, say, ate the wrong mushrooms somehow came out of it with a religious text in hand... the other 98% were burned as witches

On top of that, there's the nude picture scandal going on right now also.
Poor Billy Ray, first having his wife cheat on him with Brett Micheal's, now his daughter is ruining her performing career (like she had anything to begin with).1:exquisite> nvm for jd, brb throwin my dog in the dumpster

Drugs are not an alternative to life. Correct.
Drugs will have a detrimental effect on your brain function. While under the influence, yes. Your proclamation also assumes that all drugs have detrimental effects on brain functions. Which is not true when comparing permanent effects to direct effects.
Drugs will have a detrimental effect on your physical health. Not true.
Drugs will have a detrimental effect on your social standing. Plausible. Depends on who your current friends are. And who's 'rating you' for your 'social standing.'
Drugs will have a detrimental effect on your ability to have a fulfilling life. Absolutely not true.
It is quite easy to use drugs in a responsible manner. But whenever you use them, be aware that you can damage yourself physically and psychologically.
Problems arise when users actually think the drugs are good for them. Some drugs can benefit people in specific ways.
