    More iPod shit

    Gf got a new nano for christmas (why anybody would want a nano is beyond me, but there you have it). The new iPods apparently only run on iTunes 10, which is fine. I go to download iTunes 10 and am informed that I must be running OS 10.5 or higher (leopard or snow leopard) to download the newest version of iTunes.

    I'm running Tiger (OS 10.4.11) and after a bit of research and forum support on Mac websites, it looks to me like we can either:

    -return the iPod and find an older one, used
    -upgrade to the latest operating system (several hundred dollars)
    -pirate a copy of leopard or snow leopard (I've never been above illegal downloads, but its the principle of the matter)
    -find a alternate music player that is compatible with the newer iPods (although I can't find any that run on Tiger or without iTunes 10.

    So Mac has stopped supporting a (not so old) version of their own operating system, despite the fact that iTunes 10 is supported on XP. It seems to me that they would want to encourage iPod, iPhone, & iPad sales by NOT forcing customers to make a several hundred dollar upgrade in order to run a free program.

    Anybody else have problems with this, and any luck with a more obvious solution than I've found?

              well if you don't want to install leopard (for whatever reason) you can always get the latest itunes running on windows and dualboot. But then you'd have to pirate windows.

                Sell the Nano, buy a Sansa Clip+. Half as expensive, simple drag'n'drop, just as tiny; unless you're into the pretty screen, multitouch (on that small of screen??), and a replacement wristwatch. ALSO: has expandable memory (has a micro sd slot).

                Also, seems foolish that the $30 upgrade doesn't seem to work with Tiger os x, but oh well.

                  Still running Tiger OS is as bad as saying you're still running Windows Millenium Edition. The fuck you doing still hanging around in the past with that shit OS.

                  Upgrade. Several hundred dollars? Really? :/

                  I think you have to go from Tiger to Leopard then to Snow Leopard ..... Not sure though without researching a bit.
