    anyone played it yet?

i'm debating whether to throw down the $60 and get it for xbox, or just pirate it for pc to try it out first. i hear the controls are much more smooth/streamlined for consoles, for the better actually.

first person sword waving with monotonous quests and made by a shitty dev that releases half finished games and expects the mod community to finish them for free.
If you want a good game get Dark Souls.

                hi jason,

i'm playing it right now. about an hour in i had to turn it down from Master to Expert difficulty -- not because the game is hard it's just very unforgiving if you happen to get hit by a big ass sword.

the fighting is a bit wonky -- for some reason holding your shield out and timing the shield to when the enemy animation is supposed to hit you are not the same thing, and dragons are fucking impossible as far as I can tell (i'm only level 7 in the game, so that might explain alot.)

i'm worried a bit about how much there is to do and how much I want to do. you get one skill improvement per level, which seems like a lot until you realize there are around 20 categories full of ability trees.

it's an ambitious game with a lot left to prove. but the sheer size of it (when I looked at the map, i literally said "holy shit") will have you playing for a bit.

it's worth the money, just for the sheer amount of hours you will put into this game. the story is pretty grand, the world is beautiful, and the quests are... quests.

imo you can't rate a game til you've played it a couple weeks, they all seem awesome at first

What a pussy changing the difficulty from the hardest. The game has presented almost no challenge at all so far and I'm not even very good at it. I just learned that I could cast heal and all you have to do is back up and shoot arrows at things that rush you in a straight line. I liked oblivion and everything but a lot of the same problems with that game are the same problems in skyrim. And on PC the controls are very cumbersome

That probably comes off as me not liking the game...I like it it's just not the 9 or 9.5 all the reviews claimed. If I ever change my mind about the difficulty Ill make sure I re edit the post, but as of now I'm still liking deus ex over this

Tell me when fucking witches are casting spells on you that take away 75% of your health when they hit, after you grab the nettlebane.

I'm not a pussy, I play most, if not every game I play, on the hardest difficulty and this one seems ridiculously hard. Maybe I'm just underleveled (which I thought was impossible in Bethesda games?) but I have a hard time believing that I'm the only one this bad at this. There's no way to just walk backwards and shoot arrows at a dragon. There's no way to block a tree-creature that appears out of nowhere from hitting you with some fucking green spell that saps you for all your worth. It's unforgiving for your mistakes, as it should be, but its also just fucking hard as shit.

After 16 or so tries I finished the witcher 2 in extreme mode (death is game-over, all saves get disabled), I'm pretty sure skyrim won't be that difficult, on any level.
Kinda pissed off tho, I pre-ordered the collectors edition, and it's not here yet. Haven't even received notice of shipping yet.

This isn't a dick waving contest. I'm trying to display some of my frustrations with the game. With some quick googling though, I realized that my problem is that I am underleveled -- it's not like Oblivion where everything levels with you, but a plateaued system and some enemies are just very difficult (see Dragons).

izor, do you think the pc controls are cumbersome enough that i should avoid the pc version and just get it for xbox?
