If Romney wants to win, obviously he needs to reach out to woman and also demonstrate that he cares about the working class. IMO one way he could do this is to announce the that his campaign will immediately cease all political ads and other solicitations and instead donate these funds to several non-profit organizations. While representing a risk, I am quite sure that this action would win the election for him. Additional justifications;

• It would generate huge amounts of good press
• Historically differentiate Romney from every other candidate that has ever run
• Since these funds are earmarked for his re-election, this is exactly what this action would achieve by donating them
• Provide a positive comparison against the competition (negative ads would continue to be run by the Obama admin)
• Donated monies would help others

I am completely baffled by these guys spending millions and millions of dollars to win re-elections. When will we wake up and put a stop to this insanity?

Having either candidate sit there and yap about helping blue collar America while spending millions and millions should be enough for us to throw them all out of office. But this is why I probably lean towards Republicans. At least they are honest enough to say, “sure we are rich old white guys in suits, so what?”. Do the Democrats really think that they are fooling anyone with the ‘chicken in every pot’ talk when they all are millionaires? For example, Obama talks like he is in touch with the average working class family. But he spends more than an average working class family earns per year just for his kids annual school tuition. (He is currently spending over $68,000 per year to send his two kids to the exclusive Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C.). I don’t believe him any more than Romney when they talk about helping the middle class America.

Assuming the basic evolutionary notion of people wanting to maintain or improve themselves, I think Blue-Collar voters have only one way to vote. If you agree on my premise, then the blue-collar vote isnt even a discussion. Case in point, Virginia. 53% are pro-life, yet the republican party hasnt even come close to gaining the governorship or both houses at the state level.

tl;dr biological imperative to benefit yourself => you vote for whoever helps you the most => blue collar voters do the same.

I don't think it's fair to say, about either candidate, that because they are successful they could never possibly care about the lower class. I think Obama is very aware of his roots and very aware with the problems faced by middle- and lower-income families. That's where he came from. He, too, pulled himself up from his bootstraps and made something of himself, and he knows with opportunity others can too. You can say he's lying to win votes, but what does he actually gain from that? Why does he then try to pass laws that help these people?

However, when you have someone like Mitt Romney say "Hey, fuck those 47% that don't pay taxes, they'll never agree with me anyhow," that is proof right there that he DOESN'T care.

Call me silly and call me ignorant, but I can't stand the thought of people that can't fend for themselves being left to their own abilities. Call it entitlement, call it welfare, call it whatever, but never call it wasteful. And when the choice is there between someone that will help those that can't afford healthcare, food, or shelter, I'm going to vote for the people that say they will provide it.
