I'd say we just eliminate the middleman and carry on with what the founding father's originally wanted. A government that isn't run by one leader.

Presidents sign and/or veto laws. It seems to me they just get in the way of democracy after the house of representatives finally get a law voted for and passed, that has to go through senate for it to be voted for and passed, only to have its fate determined by a President's signature.

I guess you can retract my statement, the President isn't exactly completely useless. It's just a powerful position that's not needed.

To complete the original sentence “…I am unsure that he can pull it off as President.” Otherwise it is you that comes across like Fox News.

If you feel the presidency doesn’t mean shit I assume that you mean that executive office and leadership is meaningless. You are saying that the founding fathers who put in place the three branches government were wrong. If you don’t believe in separation of powers and the check and balances that it represents, please explain a system that you think would be better.

...what I want is a government that isn't corrupted as shit... where politicians don't perform duties that services their lobbyists that helped them get into office... where my vote actually matters and doesn't require an electoral college from making decisions in my place... where there needs to be term limits, background checks, and a different form of tax code that doesn't favor the rich, benefit the poor, and place all the burden on the middle class... where greedy politicians aren't free from sovereign immunity... where we don't have pointless drug wars... where we have separation of church and state so religion can stay out of public policy... where we don't act as the world's policeman and get ourselves involved in foreign problems...there's a lot of things that needs to be fixed in our "great" country, but it sure beats living in some bum fuck place in Africa where AIDS and rebels exist everywhere...this enough ellipses for you?

Just my opinion but I think the one key solution you raise is ‘term limits’. I think that we have to limit virtually all elected public offices to a maximum of 4 years. This would assist in changing it to true public service; instead of careers where these assholes remain seated through multiple elections it would drive these people to get something done. And that holds true both sides of the aisle. Of course there is a downside to limiting terms, but I swear it couldn’t be any worse than what we have now.

Guess it just goes to demonstrate how two people can look at something and come away with completely different perspectives. For me, I see someone who is trying to be witty and in the process is putting his mouth in gear before thinking things through. For example, first you say that I lost the context of a quote and then proceed to truncate my quote. Then you pushed back on spending 60 seconds to follow a link learn the proper way to quote someone and use ellipses stating that it was only a 2d space game forum. Yet you are willing to spend 60 seconds drawing stick figures to demonstrate your rapier-like wit. Simply doesn’t make sense to me but I suppose each reader can make up their own mind on this topic.
