    I have never seen this before nor have I tried it, but is seems legitimate?

        In undergrad fluid mechanics classes you often make the assumption that water (wine in this case) is inviscid and (more importantly) incompressible. This gives you pretty good propagation of standing waves, which is what that force impulse becomes once it transfers through the glass (which provides very little damping).

                      well I tried it with a work shoe and a bottle of wine I had in the house, now I have dirty footprints all over the wall and wine all over the carpet.
