Alien abduction experiences are caused by accidental releases of massive quantities of DMT by the brain during sleep. This could be caused by chance, or by a near-death experience during an intense dream. Either way, the first aliens we make contact with will be microbial organisms, and will look nothing like the man-made concept of an E.T. in which the aliens have "big heads, big eyes, small body" and look like a humanoid cartoon. Also, we will be the ones discovering the microbial organisms, not the other way around--aliens aren't going to come to us.
